Germany
Why they move on: The Germans always seem to do well. Suffocating defense and offense lead by world-class players like Klose, Podolski, Gomez.
Why they wont: Not living up to the potential of the talent on the team.

Australia
Why they move on: Harry Kewell, Lucas Neill are a formidable duo on the offense.
Why they wont: Aside from group of death, group D is probably the most competitive.

Serbia
Why they move on: The Serbs have one of the best defenses in the world cup, led by Vidic, Ivanovic, and veteran, Dejan Stankovic.
Why they wont: Aside from Zigic, Serbia has no legitimate threat up front.

Ghana
Why they move on: Very potent offense lead by Michael Essien and young Asamoah Gyan, whos tallied 19 goals in 38 games for French club, Rennes.
Why they wont: Aside from group of death, group D is probably the most competitive.

Germany and Ghana. This is a tough group though. I think Australia performed well last time and probably a little beyond their actual standard. Serbia are good but this might be one World Cup too soon.

For me i think Germany and Australia are the teams to proceed through the group stage . Germany is a powerful team and has a great history in football , where as talking about Australia , I think this team is an Underdog team which has great potential of making changes in big games and even shock world 's best footballing nations through their high quality team play .

Germany & Ghana....playing in Africa is a huge boost for Ghana. Aussies don't have Hiddink to work his magic this time.

I think the Serbs will surprise people. Their defenders are second to none and have a young playmaker in Krasic.

Right you two! Mulli meant that Srbia will let in at least 4 goals in the group stage. There are three games in the group stage. Are we all clear now?

Serbia may have a defense but their attack is anemic. The WC being in Africa is going to be a huge boost for Ghana.

Jovanovic had 5 goals in 8 qualifying games, Krasic had 6 assists and Zigic whos got 13 goals in 19 games for Santander in Spain. Not the best known mids, but productive none the less.

You said first game. That is the ghanna game. If you want the entire group phase I want 5 or less you get 5 or more.
Hold on. If their D is so good then letting 4 goals in three games would not be what they would call successful. That would surely be a failure for a team with a top D?

Oh yeah, I forgot to say about the 2006 World Cup.
Serbia in qualification - Unbeaten. Finishes ahead of Spain and only lets in ONE goal. Pretty great stuff.
They get to the World cup with that brilliant qualification record and lose the first game 1-0. The second to Argentina 6-0 and the final game they lose 3-2 to Ivory Coast (after being 2-0 up).
