2013 Draft

1st Round

You must be registered for see images attach
Arizona Cardinals: Tyler Wilson, QB, Arkansas
You must be registered for see images

Arizona will give John Skelton and Kevin Kolb one more shot to prove to they can be long-term starters. Ergo, the Cardinals could easily be in the quarterback market next April.

Wilson completed 63 percent of his passes for 3,638 yards with 24 touchdowns and six interceptions last year. He improved as the season progressed and has gotten good preparation for the pro game. Wilson played a little bit in 2010 as a backup to Ryan Mallett. Wilson completed 34-of-51 passes for 453 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions.

Wilson has good field vision, a strong arm and accuracy. The 2012 season figures to be a challenging year for the signal-caller. The program is in turmoil with Bobby Petrino having been fired. To make things harder, Wilson lost a some good receivers in Joe Adams, Jarius Wright and Greg Childs.

2nd Round

Arizona Cardinals: Oday Aboushi, OT, Virginia
You must be registered for see images

The Cardinals grab a bookend tackle to go with Bobby Massie.

Aboushi is a left tackle prospect who could have been a top-50 pick if he had entered the 2012 draft. Aboushi should only get better as a senior. The 6-foot-6, 310-pounder has quick feet and is a natural left tackle. He also is a good run-blocker with some power and mobility.

Aboushi could rise high in the 2013 class and comes from a school that has produced a lot of offensive tackle talent.

WAY too soon for this.

But If I must:

Ive been saying for awhile, I think 2013 is when we take our next feature RB. Beanie, love him, is just too banged up. Hes got knees like Greg Oden. Its not his fault but it is what it is. Its wait-and-see with Ryans health, but odds are hes not a 20 carries per game guy, So we need a 2nd back for the tandem.

Levi has LT locked down. Just gotta deal with it. Oline in general is full for the forseeable future.

Probably another corner since you can never have too many.

Probably a mid round QB.

OLB
OLB
OLB

and probably 1 ILB

drumroll......Adubs Replacement!

Finally.

My money is on pp21 being adubs replacement.

I don't think so. You don't take a lock down corner and move him to safety (maybe in 10 years when/if he starts to slow down).

first he would have to be a lock down corner, hes not yet.

Peterson is almost the size of a safety and he is very young. He will thicken over time aging and working with john lott. Just takes finding another good corner but he has the size to be a SS or an FS really.

Rhodes is actually lighter than pp21, adub is only about 10 lbs heavier.

It's extremely hard to find CB talent with the size to match up with big WRs. I think it would be foolish to move him to safety just because he looks like one.

everyone is striving to be their best and to be a shutdown corner, striving for anything less would be silly.

I wouldnt call it just because he looks like one, I call it because he would be the best one in the NFL rather quickly especially if he turns into a shut down corner. Elite safetys are fewer and further between than elite CB's IMO. We will se how things shake out but it seems to me that great CB play is easier to come by than great safety play.

PP21 can blitz, can cover, can tackle, has all the stuff needed for either position.

If Wilson can play 3 more years pp21 will be at his peak and is either too elite to replace or a perfect fit at safety, only time will tell.

My bet is still on him becoming wilsons replacement especialluy considering the your CB core we have with jefferson, toler, bethel and the other new guy. Add in some future draft picks and it may be an easy decision.

Shut down corners are a priceless commodity. The hardest postion to fill behind QB and LT IMHO.

PP would make an amazing safety. Probably the greatest after Reed retired. Hes got the physical tools to cover TEs. Hes got the speed to play zone and get to the ball when its in the air.

Speaking of speed, can you imagine him being a pass rusher off the corner more often? This guy blocks punts. Guaranteed 20/20 club inductee.

But elite CBs are nearly as hard to find as franchise QBs, therefore we need to keep him at CB for as long as possible.

You've heard the reports from camp. Skelton is horribly inaccurate and Kolb is already hurt again plus we have our top 2 RBs coming off knee injuries and Adam Snyder and Jeremy Bridges, two guys most noted for being able to play multiple positions but none of them well, are the right side of our offensive line. And we have a really tough schedule. And there's no way we can get all those lucky wins again with punt return TDs and FG miscues and....

The season's over. It's 5-11 record #113. So we might as well talk about the draft.

:p

Come on. You KNOW we will draft Jordan Rodgers since Aaron Rodgers has publically stated he was told by the Cards we would draft him if available and then didn't. It would be the classic Cardinal move.

As far as the 2013 draft goes, here are the positions I believe you will need to be scouting during college games. QB, OLB, ILB, DE, S, OG, OC, RB.

Here are a couple of names you might keep an eye out for...

QB - Tyler Wilson - Arkansas (1)
QB - Jordan Rodgers - Vanderbilt (4)
OT - Jake Matthews - Texas A&M (2)
OG - Jonathan Cooper - North Carolina (2)
DE/DT - Star Lotulelei - Utah (1)
OLB - Barkevious Mingo - LSU (1)
OLB - Sam Montgomery - LSU (1/2)
OLB - Jarvis Jones - Georgia (1)
OLB - Alex Okafer - Texas (1)
OLB - Jackson Jeffcoat - Texas (1/2)
OLB - Chase Thomas - Stanford (2/3)
ILB - Shayne Skov - Stanford (2/3)
CB - Johnathan Banks - Mississippi St. (2)
S - Robert Lester - Alabama (2/3)

A quick list and by no means the full range of players I will be watching. The numbers in the () are roughly the projected rounds right now. Rodgers might be high, but I think his name will pull him up draft boards.

Dream draft (top 3 rounds) right now...
1-Tyler Wilson-QB
2-Sam Montgomery-OLB
3-Shayne Skov-ILB
