2014-15 Pro Bowl Game Thread

2015 Pro Bowl: Team Carter vs. Team Irvin

at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona
Date: January 25, 2015
Game time: 8:00 p.m. EST / 6:00 p.m. MST

Game format:

  • Two former players will draft players on to the teams. Each will be assisted by two player captains and one NFL.com fantasy football champion.

  • Captain Michael Irvin will be assisted by player captains DeMarco Murray and Joe Haden while Captain Cris Carter will be assisted by player captains J. J. Watt and Antonio Brown.

  • A two-minute warning will be added to the first and third quarters, plus overtime, and the ball will switch hands after every quarter/overtime.

  • Teams will be given two timeouts per quarter (instead of the customary three timeouts per half) and if a team only uses one timeout in the first or third quarter, they can carry their additional timeout to the next quarter.

  • However, timeouts cannot carry over from one half to next or into first overtime.

  • No kickoffs. A coin toss will determine which team is awarded possession first, and the ball will be placed on the 25-yard line at the start of each quarter and after scoring plays.

  • The rosters now consist of 44 players per squad, with an additional defensive back added.

  • The defense is now permitted to play "cover two" and "press" coverage. In the previous years, only the "man" coverage was permitted, except for goal line situations.

  • Beginning at the two-minute mark of every quarter/overtime, if the offense does not gain at least one yard, the clock stops as if the play were an incomplete pass.

  • A 35-second and 25-second play clock is used instead of the usual 40-second and 25-second clock.

  • The game clock does not stop on quarterback sacks outside of the final two minutes of regulation.

Andy Dalton is a Pro Bowler after Peyton, Rivers, Flacco all declined due to injury/Arizona not being as much fun as Hawaii.

Lmao Andy freaking Dalton.

I have a pair of lower level seats in Section 118 row 8 and a Green E parking pass for sale.

Face value (and fee crap) - Tickets = $146 and Green E Parking = $70 ($216 total)

Also have a single in Section 139 Row 2 for $75 but you would have to sit next to me.

PM me if interested.

I can't remember the last Pro Bowl I actually sat down and watched. Doesn't the defense not even tackle? Especially low because is a big "no no" in this game. I know it's all for fun and cool to see all the studs in the NFL on one field, but it never really interested me.

It is another pro sports event to attend and mark off on our list. Was always played in Hawaii, so for many years attending one seemed improbable, but for $60...we'll check it out. Treating it like an extra home game and plan on rooting for individual Cardinals' players.

At least here the game sold out. In HNL, stadium was always empty - they would practically give the tickets away just to get some bodies in the seats.

Drove out to Glendale this AM to drop tickets at stubhub and Westgate was rocking with people in jerseys from every team. The players may like Hawaii but the NFL has to dig the NFL love fest this will be. Amazing display of fandom. I was not looking forward to it but after seeing that I think it will be cool to be part of it.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!! Shame on ESPN for yelling over the PA announcer during the player's introductions. They just wouldn't shut up with their worthless BS while the Pro Bowlers were being introduced. Here we had a sell-out crowd, full seats, everyone wanting to hear the intro's, and ESPN wouldn't shut up. Berman and Crew totally blew it.

You would never have that in ANY OTHER SPORT FOR THEIR ALL STAR GAME. I sure as hell hope the players and stadium fans heard the intros, because the TV fans couldn't hear anything but ESPN yelling, (drowning out the intros). What a Bush-League act for the league to allow this. It is the players, (and ONLY the players) that count in an ALL STAR GAME. To not even allow the fans, (or the players themselves), to hear their own introductions is tantamount to SACRILEGE.

What an awful format for this game. Not that previous pro-bowls were entertaining but this "Team Carter" vs "Team Irvin" saps what minimal rooting interest I could have. Looking at the teams it seems like only a Cowboy fan could find a reason to give a ****.

Actually, it hasn't always been in Hawaii. The first game in Hawaii was in 1980 but it has been there every year since 1980 except 2010 and this season. It's scheduled to be back there next year.

I went. It was fun. Fans in the stadium booed loudly when the pro bowl Seahawks cheerleader was introduced. They also booed loudly when the Seahawk pro bowlers were introduced and interviewed on the jumbo tron. It was really a thing of beauty. Everytime a Cardinals pro bowler was on the jumbo tron the crowd went wild. It was cool.

The mascot antics were highly amusing, though I don't think people at home got to see that.

Not gonna lie ... we didn't stay for the entire game, but we did have a good time while we were there.

The game itself was weak but I was more interested in seeing what was going on at the stadium for the Super bowl. Its like a whole city has sprung up around it ,pretty amazing. It must have taken hundreds of tractor trailers to bring everything I saw.

Well, maybe you're older than us. I was 9 in 1980. Since I have been old enough to travel to the Pro Bowl - it has been in Hawaii except for 2010 and this year.

Had a blast. Fun atmosphere. Open roof !!

I thought of this thread late in the game as Andy Dalton was our only hope in a comeback attempt. I kept hoping they would pull him for anyone else.

Team Carter’s last, best chance ended when an Andy Dalton pass fell incomplete; on a day when offenses dominated, Dalton was an exception, completing just nine of his 20 passes for 69 yards.

Cro went from missing arm tackles and shying away from contact in the season to just touching people with his hand in the pro bowl and watching them keep running.

I was at the game and enjoyed it. It was very festive with fans wearing team jerseys from all over the NFL but mostly Cardinals. It was sold out, really packed. Maybe players would rather be in Hawaii but this is great for NFL fans.
Really glad that I went. A real fun time.
