Thirteen Dbacks on last year's opening Day roster are no longer with the team:

Starting position players:

Martin Prado - traded to Yankees for Peter O'Brien. Now with the Marlins

Gerardo Parra
- traded to Brewers for minor leaguers Mitch Haniger and Anthony Banda

Bench:

Eric Chavez - retired

Tony Campana - traded (with Joe Thatcher to Angels for prospects Zach Borenstein and Joey Krehbiel.

Ryan Smith - playing in China

Starting Pitchers:

Wade Miley - traded to Red Sox for pitchers Rubby De La Rosa and Allen Webster and infielder Raymel Flores.

Trevor Cahill - traded to Braves for minor league player Josh Elander.

Brandon McCarthy - traded to Yankees for Vidal Nuno. Now with the Dodgers

Bronson Arroyo - on DL after Tommy John Surgery.

Bullpen

J.J. Putz - released, now works for Dbacks

Joe Thatcher - see Tony Campana

Will Harris - waived - now with Astros

A very necessary overhaul, thank goodness.

The only two names on that list I kinda liked were Parra and Miley. The only one on there that was probably a "plus" starter was Montero (except maybe Chavez but he was always hurt). Everyone else is addition by subtraction.

And I think you missed Didi, didn't he start off in the bigs last year?

No - he started in the minors, and wasn't called up until June.

I thought about including him, since he is the starting SS for the Yankees, having netted the Dbacks Robbie Ray and Domingo Leyba

Okay, I think what confused me was him playing in the Australian series, which I guess was not considered our opening day roster.

No - the Dbacks and Dodgers were allowed expanded rosters for that series, since it took place a week before other teams had to get down to 25-man roster.
