Cole Toner Draft Profile – NFL.com

Overview

Toner had to deal with current Indianapolis Colts defender Zack Hodges during every practice as a sophomore and junior, so most opponents on the Ivy League schedule were a piece of cake in comparison. The first-team All-Ivy League pick in both 2014 and 2015 looks like an NFL prospect, and he shows the toughness and footwork to win as a run blocker and pass protector. If the 2015 Associated Press All-American continues to fill out his frame after this season and early in his NFL career, he has a chance to contribute sooner than later.

At this stage in the draft you aren't picking guys to play right away. Might develop later.

Draft analysts have the 6-6, 305-pounder slotted as a mid-round draft prospect, and consider his versatility a major strength. He primarily was a right tackle at Harvard, but also played some left tackle and guard. Toner might slide inside to guard or center in the NFL.

“I’ve heard from people that I should start snapping because I could possibly be a guy that winds up at center,’’ he said. “That would be fine with me. I’ll do whatever I need to do to play.

Seems like a versatile backup.

I do wonder if he's a possibility as an LS replacement? I know we've been looking for one.

I like this pick. I remember watching him at the Senior Bowl and saying this guy is pretty good. At least we have a backup tackle now.

Nope, He can play 4 OL positions and someone said he should start snapping the ball to play C and he said I would do that, whatever it takes to make a team and help. So he has zero experience snapping a ball.

Toner getting some props from ESPN

Showed a clip of him with his family. Definitely looks like he needs to hit the weight room.

I saw that link, and it was pre-combine, so maybe it was something he worked on that the Cards liked. No worries otherwise, just a thought.

Personally I would've preferred Jatavious Brown or Harlan Miller at this spot

:D yes we did!

I'm telling you right now Brown will be a player in the league. The Cards could've had a player who can contribute defending the pass & inside blitzing had they drafted him.

You think he's smart enough to handle center?
