Very overrated player. Still very good, but incredibly overrated.

It could go either way but Colombia will find it hard to deal with set pieces.
I tend to agree, but the rating by in large comes from his heroics in the national side. which is not good for England if he is fit, but would be great if he is not fit.

James needs to go to the EPL. he would fit great at a top 6 club. he would get to play. I would say the same thing about gareth bale and other players sitting on Real Madrid's bench.

I'll take the same as you except Swiss d Sweden. I'll also take Colombia if James is fit.

what are your predictions? here are mine:

France d ARG

Portugal d Uruguay (I hope otherwise)

Brazil d Mex

Belgium d Japan

Spain d Russia

Croatia d Denmark

Sweden d Swiss (this one is such a tossup to me--I'll go Sweden because I Xaqiri is a punk)

Colombia d England

I'm really liking Croatia, and think they'll make at least a deep run. In fact, I'm calling it now: Croatia makes the final. Denmark doesn't hold a candle to them. I expect Spain to win, but they're wholly underwhelming. England, Colombia, Sweden, Switzerland? Pff! The talent on Croatia is insane, and it's showing in the WC, as opposed to other talented but under-performing sides. They're the only team I can see, based on the brackets, that has a clear run open to them. The rest of the bracket is pretty muddles.

I’m with you on Croatia. Initially I had them in the 3rd place match but they are the class of this bracket along with Spain of corse. Spain look highly vulnerable in the back. Maybe I’m overthinking that.

What a game! A seven-goal thriller that Argentina had a chance to level at the absolute death of extra time. Wow! What a way to kick off the knockout stages! I wanted Argentina to knock out France, but didn't think it would happen. France really, REALLY stepped it up today.

Looked for it online but I can’t find anything on it.
Anyway Fox just did a segment on PK’s. The percentage on PK’s converted are really good so far in this World Cup. I think the percentage was around 75%.

yes it does. I can't recall a French goal as lovely as that one. I did a double take when I saw it. Di Maria's strike was unlikely as well. this has been such a great world cup. I've enjoyed as much as my first one in 1998. if history repeats France has a shot!

I didn't think this much of France, but wow, yeah! Pavard's strike...tres magnifique! And boy, am I happy to be wrong about Uruguay. Cavani with pure class.
I just started to think maybe some of their kids are too young. then they finally show up.

Spain showing their vulnerabilities again. I love Derek Rae's comment that their favorite form of defense is passing.
Fabregas called them out on BBC for "pointless" possession or something to that effect. I think he was trying to say the same thing.

Russia really hung on for penalties. I have to say I thought they would do more, but Spain really did not capitalize on the amount of possession they had. Costa was a non factor and they should have been peppering him with service into the box. Russia cannot keep going like this though they will get hurt eventually. Poor penalty shoot out. De Gea should have done better and spain were poor on their penalties as well.
