So with Free Agency started and all the rumors that ARZ is going to most likely go with a re-build what moves would you make to at least put this team on the right track? Assuming we trade Goldy & Greinke and lose both Corbin and Pollock to FA and get prospects who are a year away in the trades so ARZ won't have replacements next year.

Here are some moves I consider to at least not look worse than a AA team:

Trade for RHP Sonny Gray - NY seems to want to get rid of him since he did not pan out and is in the last year of his deal. He shouldn't cost much in a trade since he had a rough year and is a FA so even if he doesn't pan out ARZ isn't on a financial hook. He could benefit from the humidor conditions at Chase Field.

Sign LHP Wade Miley - Had his best days in ARZ and would be a valuable inning eater who racks up strikeouts. ARZ needs at least 2 SP's to replace Greinke and Corbin and Duplantier & Widener could be brought up at deadline if ARZ gets offers for Gray & Miley.

Sign Mike Moustakas - Boras client I know but he doesn't seem to be generating much interest and has been rumored to end up back in KC. He has a low OBP but has never been a high strikeout guy and his bat would help this lineup with Peralta and Lamb as only power threats. It also would allow Escobar to platoon with Lamb at 1B and back up all the INF positions so he'll still be in the lineup a lot. Hopefully, he is a one year deal so we can also take offers at the deadline and no long term financial concerns.

Sign LHP Tony Sipp & RHP Bud Norris - Norris would be closer as Broxberger is not coming back and Sipp would add even more depth to bullpen with Bradley & Chafin.

Sign OF Carlos Gomez - Played RF last year for TB but I would put him at CF where he was an All Star early in his career. He may have lost a step but if Pollock goes, there is no minor league option even as a stop gap. Like all the other signings, short term deal.

Sign C Jonathan Lucroy - Should be inexpensive as he didn't have a good year in OAK after a strong second half of 2016 with COL.

These signings shouldn't break the bank as these guys are in the lower tier class of FA. They are strictly stop gaps until potential pieces acquired in Goldy / Greinke deals are ready and hopefully a few of our home grown guys like Pavin Smith, Duplantier & Widener are ready for the big leagues. If ARZ can acquire some SP & a CF for Goldy & Greinke then we should have a strong foundation for a re-build.

Walker could develop into a legit 30 hr guy. No on Mous.

Christian Walker? I think ARZ would need a more consistent bat but a stop gap is a stop gap so if Walker picks up the slack so be it.
He might be a more consistent bat if he had been given consistent at-bats in any of his stints with the D-backs.

I would have played him in RF when we were covering with light hitters at the corner position instead. He has experience playing OF in the Minors.

Hasn't there been talk about shifting Lamb to 1B? I wouldn't be against playing him there for a season to end his 3B fielding problems and see if he could handle it. And if it would end his 2nd half of the season swoons at-bat.

If Goldy gets traded yes the speculation is Lamb would move to 1B and Escobar would play 3B.
