A guy who gets 10 sacks but only 20 pressures isn't affecting the QB like a guy who gets 5 sacks and 70 pressures.
Where is this 70 pressures number coming from? SI mentioned 52 but I can’t even find anything close to that anywhere else.

Ooh Player of the Game! lol that is funny to me
Easier to copy and paste. The reality is, that was a big deal. He dominated a game that was a huge upset against the #1 team in the country. IN ADDITION to being named all conference and racking up two seasons of double digit sacks. He was overdrafted at #7 due to his workout, but he would’ve likely still been a second pick. It was far from doing nothing . . . further than chop’s 5 sacks and 30 total tackles over multiple seasons.

Chop may end up being a good nfl player, but it’s projection more than anything at present. And a big gamble imo.

Chop has been projected around the same spot all along. This is not the same thing at all.

Except he's been projected around the same spot all along not due to his production, but due to projected possibilities. He's done nothing solid to be considered a 1st round prospect. This coming from a Penn State fan. He's 100 percent hopeful potential.

I think you're not considering how NFL teams look at these players.

You're judging him based on a perceived lack of productivity. Well 50ish pressures isn't a lack of productivity. That's pretty damn productive.

And he won't be facing nearly as many spread concepts in the NFL.

Just counting sacks isnt how you judge pass rushers.

Robinson had like 70 total pressures.
52 pressures and 4 sacks means he isnt able to finish plays. College...big 10 OT's are able to stifle him and prevent him from actually getting to the QB. NFL OT's are going to be even better at that.

The fact that he also has like no tackles, means hes not really impacting the game outside of being a pure speed rusher who is in on obvious passing situations.

I would take him in the late 2nd as a specialist. I think higher than that you are REALLY banking on him figuring out a lot in the NFL, against far superior competition. I feel like hes a one trick pony, and one that is still banking on potential.

Sometimes at a second-tier school like Penn State the part-time coaches/full-time health teachers don't know all the nuances of technique that are available at big-time programs like the Ohio State University and LSU. If the guy is getting that close with little technique instruction, there may be a few small tweaks that can make significant improvements.
I think you are really on to something there.

Was Joe Pa the coach when Mamula was there?

NFL teams also often get these kinds of players horribly wrong and overdraft them. Pressures in college don't equal sacks in college, clearly, and often don't equal pressures in the NFL. Heck, sacks in college are often only pressures in the NFL. These things rarely directly translate, so don't give me a guy that chronically couldn't close the deal in college. Not in the first round. And not in the second round when we already have a developmental 2nd round we hope gets better.

I'd be saying the same thing if JT Tuimoloau declared for the draft. He didn't put up many sack numbers, ironically other than against PSU and Oshanu, but was credited with lots "pressures". Fact is, he had a down year that lacked production and he returned to OSU.

Post FA Mock from SI has MJH going to us at #4!

It also refers to Marvin Harrison Jr. as "The best player in the draft, regardless of position"

Wow!

This mock has us selecting Nate Wiggins, CB from Clemson at #27!

Please say no to a CB at #27. Take someone like Milton later. Or Newton from TCU.
