2024 Week 1 Snap Counts...and some thoughts

Some quick thoughts on offense.
Trey getting 85% of snaps is awesome.
Wilson is the clear WR2 getting 80% of snaps.
Conner played 67% and that seemed like too many.
Higgins playing 41% and Tip playing 33% in a game we led the entire first half is interesting.
Demercado played 21% and Benson played 13% which kinda shows Benson is the early down Conner backup.

PFR apparently deleted Xavier Thomas from existence but in reality, he was pretty invisible on the field.
Starling Thomas getting 82% of CB snaps in something. He wasn't very good.
3rd round pick Garrett Williams played 61% and 2nd round pick Max Melton played 18%. This should be a concern.
Justin Jones played 69% (nice) of snaps which is good.
Gardeck played 65% which is not good. lol
No other defensive front player played over 50%.

I actually think he did play. I think PFR combined his snaps with Dimukeje on accident. I thought I saw him on the field when I was watching.

I think you can judge them against each other. Garrett Williams being locked into a 3rd CB role behind UDFA Starling Thomas V is concerning.

If you're going to basically ignore FA and trades to acquire impact players, you better be a generational drafter. Not seeing it so far.

It's crazy because Thomas shows up as a player when you search for him but doesn't show up on the Roster. I don't know if anyone wants to tweet at or DM them to let them know there's something up with how he has two pages and not assigned to the Cards.

TBF this is always the issue with a singular approach. Maybe Monti will have add similar FAs ala Jonah, SMB, and Justin Jones in 2025 FA. tough to tell.

Definitely want to see more and more Benson as the season progresses.
More Benson in the second half yesterday might have won that game for us.

He wasn't running very well in the first half. Tucker pointed out that one of the OL had to talk to him about setting up his blocks and even I thought he was still running hesitant. I agree he should have played more, but once we started trailing, his role kinda died.
he is hitting some bumps in his transition. But his speed alone made him a better choice than JC since he is just as strong and runs just as hard....game reps cannot be simulated at walk throughs

The important takeaway is that you can't really believe anything you see on social media from Bo Brack and the rest of the PHNX crew or Cardinal State Media. Kyler's LOCKED IN. Big season loading for Michael Wilson. MHJ :fireemoji:

I saw Xavier Thomas teamed with Denis Gardeck as the edge rusher on many of the passing downs. He got pressure on a couple of plays, but was neutralized and didn't get any pressure on most plays that I saw.

X Thomas played because I remember him getting phone booth’d by one of the tackles. His first career NFL game on the road vs Josh Allen isn’t a picnic and hardly judge worthy.
Maybe hes being like Arians and dont like playing rookies?
