General manager Adam Peters and the Washington Commanders are making the most of their few picks with the high-value selections of offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr. at pick 29 and cornerback Trey Amos at pick 61. The Commanders have three more picks left on the third and final day of the 2025 NFL draft, and they can select some impact players that fall to them on the board. Peters said in his press conference on Friday that the value of trading back drops off drastically, and a trade back on day 3 is unlikely, so let's see how Washington can finish out its draft.

Round: 4 Pick: 128

Jack Sawyer, EDGE, Ohio State

The run on value picks continues for Washington as it selects a high-floor prospect in defensive end Jack Sawyer. Sawyer was a big-time veteran leader for the National Championship Buckeye defense. Jack plays with a balance of speed and power at 6-foot-4 and 260 pounds, and has a good pass-rushing move set, including a bull rush and a spin move, while displaying great hands to swipe and chop. His length is a problem for offensive tackles, and he can also set the edge on the way to the quarterback as a reliable run-stopper. Sawyer appears to be a day-one starter due to his experience, and he fits Washington's culture with his grit, high energy, and passion. Washington would be getting insane value on a prospect projected to go in the top 60 of the draft, while also filling a major remaining need.

Round: 6 Pick: 205

Jarquez Hunter, RB, Auburn

Jarquez Hunter has been one of my top sleeper running backs for Washington throughout the whole process, and I'm sticking to my pick, especially with the value at pick 205. Hunter had the second-highest explosive run rate (runs of 10+ yards) in the entire draft at 18.9%. He shows excellent vision to find open run lanes, and uses his smaller frame to get into run gaps, and hit the acceleration to get upfield for big gains. If there's a defender in his way, he uses his compact bowling ball-type body to run over defenders with force. Hunter fits a zone and man run scheme, which Washington mixed up heavily last year, while a lot of other prospects are scheme-specific runners. Jarquez also helps in the receiving game, as well as the ability to be used on special teams as a returner. The 22-year-old prospect leaves Auburn as the fourth leading rusher in program history behind only Bo Jackson, Carnell Williams, and James Brooks.

Round: 7 Pick: 245

Hunter Wohler, S, Wisconsin

It would be a miracle if Hunter Wohler falls to pick 245, but we've said that about many players that fell in the draft. Wohler is a great value here and fits Washington's need for a bigger, stronger safety to fill in for Jeremy Chinn. Hunter is a massive physical safety at 6-foot-2 and 213 pounds who flies around and makes plays. The former Badger has an elite coverage grade at 90.0 on PFF since 2023, and also a very willing and reliable tackler in open space or the backfield with 191 tackles in his last two seasons. Wohler would be a tone setter in the secondary for Washington, and also a major contributor in a special-teams role. The safety position would receive an instant boost in physicality and football IQ with Wohler always in position to make a big play or prevent one from happening.
