It took a while for the New Orleans Saints to get back on the clock, having traded their fifth-round pick, but at No. 184 in Round 6 they selected Kansas Jayhawks running back Devin Neal.
That's a good value pick -- Neal was projected to be a fourth rounder on a lot of boards, so getting him two frames later is nice to see. And he was wildly productive in college. Neal, 21, played a big part in the Kansas renaissance in recent years with three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons as a rusher. He finished his college career with 4,343 yards and 49 touchdown runs across 49 games while also catching 77 passes for another 711 yards and 4 touchdown receptions.
He has good size at 5-foot-11 and 213 pounds, but while his time in the 40 yard dash won't wow you (4.58 seconds) he did consistently flash big-play ability at Kansas. His tape speaks for itself. He set school records for rushing yards and touchdowns, as well as 100-plus yard games as a rusher (20 of them). He'll be great competition for Kendre Miller in the change-of-pace role behind Alvin Kamara.
