The 2025 NFL draft is just a few weeks away, and the Chicago Bears will have plenty of options to choose from with their seven total picks. Last year, the Bears made their biggest splash in the first round selecting hopeful franchise quarterback Caleb Williams with the first overall pick and wide receiver Rome Odunze with the ninth overall selection.
Chicago hopes to have similar success and big splashes in this year's draft, and as they hold the No. 10 overall pick, the Bears can continue to shore up their offensive or defensive line, or they can take the best available playmaker.
Recently, CHGO's Adam Hoge released his second mock draft, and like many others, has the Bears taking the best playmaker available at the running back position. We're breaking down those seven-round selections made by the Bears:
A consistent pick of most recent mock drafts, Ashton Jeanty would be a major addition to the Bears running game and could pair well with D'Andre Swift. The excitement of adding Jeanty isn't all about his own talent, but with the Bears new-look offensive line, there should be plenty of opportunities for Jeanty and Swift to have similar success as a running back duo as what Ben Johnson had in Detroit with David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs.
Similar to Matt Miller of ESPN's most recent mock draft, Hoge has the Bears filling positions with starters with even more loaded talent. It's hard to see Xavier Watts getting too much playing time as a rookie, with veterans Kevin Byard and Jaquan Brisker holding down the starting jobs, but Watts is an extremely talented player. With Byard having just one year left on his deal, Watts could sit back and learn and then take control of the starting role in his second season.
With Braxton Jones rehabbing from injury and Kiran Amegadjie not doing enough to impress in his injury-filled rookie season, the Bears could look at taking Aireontae Ersery as their left tackle of the future. Ersery is a massive player at 6'6" and 331 pounds, and would be an interesting addition after the recent additions the Bears have made to their entire offensive line.
One of the biggest standouts at the NFL Scouting Combine in February, CJ West would be a fun addition behind Grady Jarrett, Andrew Billings, and Gervon Dexter. West may not get a ton of opportunity early on but as a run-stuffer, he'd be a good addition to the defensive line, which can never have enough reinforcements. West wouldn't be asked to do much, and he'd have plenty of mentors to help him grow at the next level.
With an opening in their linebacker room after the departure of Jack Sanborn and Kobe King would come in with an opportunity to earn playing time early on. Last season at Penn State, King was named to Second-team All-Big Ten, and totaled 97 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, and three sacks. Having a nose for the ball, King would get the chance to learn and work with T.J. Edwards and Tremaine Edmunds.
A speedster who will have an uphill battle to make the roster, Efton Chism III had a standout season at Eastern Washington grabbing 120 receptions for 1,306 yards and 13 touchdowns. The Bears have plenty of wide receiver depth, but Chism could find himself not only working for a roster spot this year but an opportunity for a bigger role next season with Olamide Zaccheaus and Devin Duvernay under contract for just one year.
The Bears could have an opening behind Jaylon Johnson and Tyrique Stevenson, and Korie Black could be worthy of a flier. Black, who had a 4.35 40-yard dash time, totaled three interceptions and nine pass deflections last season with Oklahoma Sate. Just like all late picks, Black would have to work harder than most to earn his roster spot, but he has shown the talent to be able to play at the next level.
