2030 World Cup: Tournament to be held across six countries in three continents

Spain, Portugal and Morocco have been named as the co-hosts, with the opening three matches taking place in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay.

The opening matches in South America are to mark the World Cup's centenary as it will be 100 years since the inaugural tournament in Montevideo.

The decision is set to be ratified at a Fifa congress next year.

Fifa also confirmed only bids from countries from the Asian Football Confederation and the Oceania Football Confederation will be considered for the 2034 finals.

Makes no sense whatsoever. What a ****show FIFA continues to be.
The first three games are in Uruguay, Paraguay and Argentina to mark the 100th anniversary of the World Cup, which was played in Uruguay in 1930.

The rest is played in much closer proximity to each other than other recent World Cups (except Qatar, of course).

It does seem like a weird decision. Just have the WC in South America instead...

Talk about teams suffering from jet lag. Five hour difference in time and 12/13 of flying time from say Spain to Argentina. Utterly stupid idea. FIFA has reached a new level of insanity.
