Kordell Stewart
Bears
Cardinals
Ravens
Mar. 12 - Stewart's agent, Leigh Steinberg, told the Arizona Republic the quarterback called Cardinals coach Dave McGinnis to let him know he still is considering the team's proposal, but he didn't appear any closer to a decision. Stewart has offers on the table from both the Cardinals and Bears, reportedly at around $3 million a year.
The Ravens are interested, but they graded Stewart out at about the same level as Jeff Blake, whom they cut ties with last week after negotiations broke down. "We are still interested in Kordell," Ravens coach Brian Billick told the Baltimore Sun. "But this is the time to take it at a certain pace. If a deal presents itself elsewhere for Kordell, we certainly understand."
Jeff Blake
Cardinals
Bears
Steelers
Mar. 12 - Blake visited the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday and indicated it probably would be his last trip, meaning he likely will sign with either Arizona, Chicago or Pittsburgh. Both the Cardinals and Bears -- the two teams that would give Blake the best chance at a starting job -- have offers out to Kordell Stewart, but Arizona VP Rod Graves told the Arizona Republic the team wouldn't necessarily wait for Stewart's decision, indicating an offer to Blake could be put together soon.
Dexter Jackson
Steelers
Cardinals
Buccaneers
Mar. 12 - Jackson, reportedly is close to a deal with Pittsburgh, but talks were put on hold temporarily when his wife went into labor Tuesday night. "No decision has been made yet," Jackson's agent, Peter Schaffer, told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "The only news I have is that Dexter's wife is going into labor. Jackson's final decision reportedly had come down to the Steelers and Cardinals, and he was said to be close to signing a deal in the neighborhood of five years, $12 million.
Chike Okeafor
Lions
Cardinals
Chiefs
Jaguars
Broncos
49ers
Mar. 11 - Okeafor, thought to be through making the rounds in free agency, instead has added Denver to his list of teams to visit. The former 49ers DE reportedly will add the Broncos to a tour that already has stopped in Jacksonville, Detroit, Arizona and Kansas City. The 49ers reportedly want to see what other teams offer before making a pitch of their own. Okeafor registered six sacks and 43 tackles while starting all 16 games for San Francisco.
Emmitt Smith
Cardinals
Chiefs
Buccaneers
Patriots
Panthers
Mar. 9 - Chiefs GM Carl Peterson told the Dallas Morning News, "I'd like to talk with (Emmitt), just to see where he's coming from and where he'd like to go." Peterson has a history of bringing in veteran stars near the end of their careers, including Joe Montana, Marcus Allen and Mike Webster. "I've always admired productive football players," Peterson told the paper, "and Emmitt certainly fits that bill."
While the presence of Priest Holmes in Kansas City makes signing Smith a longshot, the Chiefs become the fourth team to express interest in the NFL's all-time leading rusher, and there is a rumor the Patriots will make a run at him, as well. Smith reportedly will meet with the Arizona Cardinals on Wednesday and Thursday, and while Tampa Bay's front office isn't expressing interest, coach Jon Gruden is. In Carolina, Smith is the second choice, if the team can't sign Stephen Davis.
