Three RCMP officers have been criminally charged over a takedown in a back alley in Prince George in 2016 that was captured on videotape. Const. Joshua Grafton is charged with with assault, assault with a weapon and obstruction of justice. Const. Wayne Connell and Const. Kyle Sharpe are charged with assault causing bodily harmThe Mounties were charged more than four years after the arrest.At the time, a surveillance video obtained by CBC News showed two men being pulled from a pickup truck by RCMP working with a police dog. Police believed the truck was stolen.After the man exits the truck, the dog lunges at him and an officer appears to strike him while he is on the ground.A second man in the vehicle is pulled from the passenger side and appears to be stomped and kicked by officers.The Independent Investigation Office of B.C. deployed investigators to Prince George the day the video was made public. At the time, the IIO said police believed he pair was evading arrest in a stolen truck.News of the charges comes just a week after BC.'s police watchdog sent a report to Crown counsel for consideration of charges against five Prince George RCMP officers in an unrelated 2017 case.The officers are scheduled to appear in provincial court in Prince George on August 12.
