We knew the San Francisco 49ers attempted to get linebacker Dre Greenlaw to go back on his verbal agreement with the Denver Broncos thanks to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Greenlaw apparently wasn't the only free agent he kept his initial agreement with Denver.

The Minnesota Vikings also tried to re-sign wide receiver Trent Sherfield after he reached an agreement with the Broncos, according to KUSA-TV's Mike Klis. The 49ers and Vikings made strong pitches to retain those two in-house free agents.

Additionally, the York Jets Jets tried to sign safety Talanoa Hufanga after he made a agreement with Denver, according to Klis. Hufanga decided to keep his deal with the Broncos, and Jets general manager Darren Mougey (an ex-Denver executive) ended up signing safety Andre Cisco to a one-year deal.

All of this follows the report that tight end Evan Engram picked the Broncos after receiving a similar contract offer from the Los Angeles Chargers. Following the arrivals of coach Sean Payton and quarterback Bo Nix, Denver is an attractive destintion for NFL free agents again.
