It seems too good to be true to be more than just a rumor. If the Dolphins were really willing to accept a 3rd round pick for RW, then, like another poster mentioned earlier, there are probably a dozen or so teams willing to make that deal.

It reminds me of last year at this time when both the Seahawks and the Colts apparently were willing to accept a 2nd round pick in exchange for their stud RBs.

If this was really the case, then why didn't the Cardinals do this last year? I would rather have either James or Alexander than Arrington. There must be more to it than we know. It just doesn't make any sense.

BTW, I just realized that both backs mentioned above have first names for last names (James & Alexander). Weird.

That would be a steal..... so would a 2nd. Ricky is still a really good back and fills a gigantic need for us. He is still able to take it outside the tackles well, I mean who would be better for us that we could get in the 3rd?

Saban is reportedly VERY high on Cutler, so the Dolphins might be interested in our #10.

Ricky and their 4th to swap 1st round picks?

I'd aim higher.....say a swap, RW and their third.

If the Cardinal brass satisfied themselves that Ricky had grown out of his "issues" and would be a solid citizen in Arizona, the decision to trade a 3rd round (#73?) pick for him should be a no-brainer.

But the question of how solid a citizen he'd be once he got here is a huge one involving a lot of research, vetting and the gut-instincts of Dennis and his staff - and shouldn't be taken lightly.

The idea of us trading our #3, hell even a #2 would be a steal for the Cards.

Imagine an offense with:

WR's Boldin and Fitz
RB of Ricky
QB of Warner (If Young drops to us I say we snatch him up)
OLine with Davis and some FA's

We're set.

Couldn't agree more. His taking time off to travel the world be damned! This guy will run for over a thousand yards no matter who is on our offensive line. The same cannot be said about JJ, or Lendale, or DeAngelo.

Picking him up is a no brainer IMO.

Ricky Williams is 29 years old, though, and has over 1700 career carries--tough, tough carries. Giving up a prospect that could help you for the next 4-7 years for a guy that may not be the best idea.

"could" being the operative word.

Pot should be in the same category as alcohol and cigarettes. It should not be illegal. What a waste of tax payers $$ on enforcing this idiotic law.

Whether its Ricky, or Edge, or Alexander, or anybody else for that matter--

I would like to see the front office exhibit a sense of urgency and aggressiveness that hasnt been there in the past.

Dont get me wrong, I think the last few years they have done much better in free agency --

but if you are hitching your wagon to Warner -- its basically saying that there is a two, maybe three year window for him --

even if you have to pay for two years of subprime production from someone like Edgerrin James (i.e. signing him to a longer contract than you would prefer) -- its worth it to "load up" for a serious run at it over the next 2-3 years. Obviously, there has to be more than just Edge, but if the front office really wanted to stretch, they could address every single need prior to the draft.

I would go on to argue that even if this "loading up" process "only" resulted in three trips to the playoffs -- at a minimum, I think you have gone a long way to erase the stigma and default losing culture the team is currently trying to overcome.

I like your argument. The only problem is that i used to use those same statements to defend Maurice Clarett.

Clarett has proved nothing and is a bonified thud. Ricky is a soft spoken seemingly kind hearted human being. Pot smot...most people have tried it and it is a shame that our country believes that whiskey is less harmful than pot. Irrationality, pure and simple.

I think a 3rd rounder is about right for Ricky. Remember last offseason a 2nd rounder got you Shawn Alexander or Edgerrin James.

I like the idea of swapping down from #10 to pick up Ricky and maybe a pick.

Excellent post, couldn't agree more.
