The reviews state that it is EDTV, not HDTV. But yeah, plasma prices are getting better.

From the review;

"Try and remember that this is an EDTV (enhanced definition), NOT a HDTV (high definition). The difference, HDTV has 1080i lines of resolution while this TV has 480p lines. So DVD's will look their best if you use a progressive scan DVD player.. Your HDsignals from your cable box will be down converted from 1080i to 480p. But since DVD's are only 480p anyway, it's a great set for viewing them. REMEMBER that you must have a progressive DVD player and use the component cables in order to get the best picture, otherwise the picture will be somewhat grainy. And don’t forget to set your DVD player to 16x9 mode. "
