As free agency is officially underway, the San Francisco 49ers have taken the first steps of rebuilding and retooling their roster after a disappointing 6-11 season. While the start of free agency has primarily been headlined by a flurry of departures, John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan still have April's NFL draft to add a blue chip caliber player in the first round.

While several holes are still open across the 49ers depth chart, the offensive line appears to remain a key position of need on Shanahan's offense. With Aaron Banks being one of the pieces to sign elsewhere in free agency, the 49ers could look to the trenches when they're on the clock in April.

In the latest mock draft from The 33rd Team, the 49ers landed a standout offensive lineman, Will Campbell. Despite Campbell being widely considered one of the top offensive line prospects in the draft, the 49ers were able to secure the LSU Tigers product at No. 11 in the latest mock from the 33rd team. The arrival of Campbell in Santa Clara could quickly solve some of the question marks on the 49ers' offensive front.

The 6-foot-6, 323 lb blocker starred in Baton Rouge at offensive tackle, earning first Team All-SEC honors in 2023 and 2024. In 2024, Campbell was named a consensus All-American along with winning the Jacobs Blocking Trophy for the top offensive lineman in the SEC.

In 2024, Campbell earned a 72.4 Pro Football Focus grade, allowing two sacks and five quarterback hits in 12 games. In 2024, Campbell earned a career-best 82.8 grade via PFF.

Campbell has proven he can produce at tackle, holding his own against a group of NFL-caliber edge rushing prospects on in the SEC. Yet, with his athleticism and sharp fundamentals, some draft analysts expect Campbell to kick inside to the interior offensive line.

If the 49ers were able to land Campbell at No. 11, he could step in at multiple positions on the offensive line. Filling in at offensive guard or competing with Colton McKivitz at right tackle all while learning from Trent Williams at left tackle.
