49ers sign LB Brooks to 6-year extension (AP)

Linebacker Ahmad Brooks has signed a six-year contract extension with the San Francisco 49ers taking him through the 2017 season. Brooks emerged as a regular starter for the first time in his six-year NFL career last season with the NFC West champion 49ers, who lost in overtime of the NFC championship game to the eventual Super Bowl champion New York Giants.
