you know another thing comes to mind. when we went for it on 4th and 2 inside the red zone. i was yelling at the tv to kick the 3 pointer but the tv wasn't listening and when we didn't get it, i felt that this will come back and haunt us. now fast forward to the end of the game. it would have been tied (if we had kick the field goal earlier) so we run the ball twice and kick a field goal and win. i know, i know should've would've could've. this is sorta deja vue. as i get into the way back machine back during the Vince Tobin era. i remember one game at SDS we were waaaaay behind. i don't remember who we were playing (things got blurry back then) but we got down around the 15 yard line, it was 4th and 3 and Tobin desides to kick a field goal. remember we were like 3 td's behind. needless to say he got boood big time for doing that.
i remember saying what a boneheaded move that was among other names and he needed flogging. well as the game progressed and as true to the cardinals reputation as comeback kids. they did not disappoint and we came back and scored 3 td's. now to my amazement we were ahead by 3 points because we kick that damn field goal earlier. that 3 points ended up with us winning that game. in my own way i told coach Tobin i was sorry for threating him with violence and calling him names. now in my wildest dreams i never would have believed that that field goal was going to be the difference in the game. watching yesterdays game made me go, mmmmmmm.

The last time Whis feigned on the easy 3 and it cost us the game was in the Superbowl. Sometimes, you just gotta take the points that are right in front of you....

I stopped listening at this point - not because of missing the TD, but because we threw the ball instead of running it in.

I think you are right on about this call. I was surprised at that call by Whiz. He knew our QBs suck. Three points at that point would have had us tied a few moments later. In the end it may have cost us the game. Of course, one cannot assume everything after that play would have gone as it did. I still did not like the play considering the known quantity of our QBs in the red zone. That was the three points that we lost by. I wonder if that was a spur of the moment decision or did Whiz get some input from his staff?

too many years sitting in Sun Devil watching the Cards I LEARNED. TAKE THE POINTS!!! ALWAYS TAKE THE POINTS!

nevermind this....thought we could hold em' and get the ball back.

Failure to take points in the NFL is ignorance.

Even had he got the TD I'd say you got lucky...next time take the 3 points.

I have no problem with that call. Like Whiz said, the D had been playing really well at that point and if the bucs had gone 3 and out we would have had excellent field position. With a crappy QB you never when you're going to get that close again.

Bottom line is that the secondary has not been coming through on the long passes!! We're four points ahead and the clock is ticking down. One would think that the other side has a very remote chance of going the length of the field for a TD. Whiz thought wrong.

I have no problem going for it on 4th down 2 yards from a TD and the D playing well.

We needed to run it in IMO.

Was that a Whis call, a Haley call, or even maybe a Warner call though? Haley does that stuff all the time in KC. Those three are probably equally to blame for that one.

The SB one is completely different. Do you mean the pick by the end of 1st half or another one? I can't really recall now

I disagree.

Boldin lined up in the wrong spot, and then jumped up and down complaining about the INT instead of chasing Harrison down. He was right there, he just had to run and would have tackled him withing 15 yard of the original LOS, IMO.

Furthermore, the second blame goes to Antrel Rolle who was the ONLY player that stepped into the playing area to watch Harrison run, and blocked Fitzgerald who did tackle Harrison about 1/2 yard too late. Rolle keeps his discipline and Fitzgerald tackles Harrison and the half is over.

The play was right, if Harrison does what he was supposed to and blitz, then it is a TD.

Even with Harrison dropping back, if Boldin is lined up correctly it is a TD.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

But, to be honest, I would have run the ball. :D
