The Ravens have significantly added to last year's top-ranked offense by signing wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, it's a one-year deal worth up to $6 million.
"We are happy to bring DeAndre Hopkins to the Ravens," General Manager Eric DeCosta stated. "D-Hop is a player whom we have competed against and admired for a long time. He fits our style of play and is another weapon for our offense. We are excited to watch him play and congratulate DeAndre and his family."
The move gives the Ravens a legit third option at wide receiver and one of the NFL's most efficient trio of pass catchers. Hopkins, most importantly, provides quarterback Lamar Jackson with an elite red zone target.
With the move complete, we're looking at five things to know about the future Hall of Famer.
With opposing defenses likely to lock in on Derrick Henry even more in 2025, Hopkins provides the Ravens with an elite pass catcher who'll produce in the most challenging moments. Hopkins has been one of his generation's most productive wide receivers, going to five Pro Bowls and being named first-team All-Pro three times. Since entering the league in 2013, his 984 receptions lead all wide receivers, and his 12,965 receiving yards tops all players.
Of the 70 wide receivers who've had 500 targets since 2013, Hopkins has the fifth-lowest drop rate at 1.6%. Last season, the Ravens' wide receivers ranked 30th in the NFL with a 5.1% drop rate.
As an infant, Hopkins was nicknamed Nuk by his mother because he frequently chewed through NUK pacifiers.
Hopkins attended D. W. Daniel High School and was just as productive on the basketball court as on the gridiron. He played shooting guard and point guard and scored 1,453 career points.
Hopkins wore No. 8 with the Chiefs because running back Isiah Pacheco had No. 10. Hopkins said he picked No. 8 as a nod to Kobe Bryant. Hopkins normally wears the No. 10. In a social media post from five years ago, Hopkins explained the reason why he wears No. 10.
Zay Flowers missed time at the end of the season, and Rashod Bateman has had his injury history. Hopkins will be in the lineup and available. Hopkins has played at least 15 games in 10 of his 12 NFL seasons. During his 12-year career, Hopkins has only missed 11 games due to injury.
