There are 7 Division I-A unbeatens - when (if they do) will each lose?

Four of them (Texas/Texas Tech & USC/UCLA) have games scheduled against each other. Two others (Georgia/Alabama) would play in the SEC championship game if they both win out. The 7th school, Va Tech, doesn't play another unbeaten team in the regular season.

School:
Va Tech games left: Maryland, @BC, Miami (FL), @Virginia, North Carolina.
Opponents combined record: 21-9.

Texas games left: Texas Tech, @ Okie St, @ Baylor, Kansas, @Tx A&M.
Opponents combined record: 20-10

Tx Tech games left: @Texas, @Baylor, Tx A&M, @Okie St, Oklahoma
Opponents combined record: 20-10

Georgia games left: Arkansas, @Florida, Auburn, Kentucky, @ Ga Tech
Opponents combined record: 17-13

Alabama games left: Tennessee, Utah St, @ Mississippi St, LSU, @Auburn
Opponents combined record: 16-11

All the above would also have a conference championship game if they won out.

USC games left: @Washington, WSU, Stanford, @ Cal, Fresno St, UCLA
Opponents combined record: 22-13

UCLA games left: Ore St, @ Stanford, @Arizona, ASU, @USC
Opponents combined record: 17-12

Virginia Tech might very well go undefeated and get shut out of the Rose Bowl. If Texas beats Texas Tech on Saturday (that probably won't be as easy as the 15 point spread would suggest) the Longhorns should win the rest of their games.

As I said, if they get past Texas Tech they are probably home free and headed to the Rose Bowl. The big 12 is weak this year, but I can't see them dropping in the BCS.

They'll probably lose to Texas this weekend and win out the rest of the way.

I figure there's a good chance that Georgia goes undefeated at least up until the SEC championship game. They really might be the second-best team in the country.

I figure either Tennessee or LSU will get them before the end of the regular season. They do play both of those games at home though.

I think USC's major test was last Saturday, and they will beat the rest of their schedule handily. UCLA is good, but they aren't in USC's league ( figuratively that is).

They'll lose that last game of the year at USC. I'll bet Drew runs for 180+ yards against ASU.

If/when USC wins the rest of their games they will obviously be in the Rose Bowl. Let's say Texas, Georgia, and Virginia Tech also when the rest of their games. Everything I've seen so far seems to suggest that it would be a USC Texas Rose Bowl. However the Longhorns strength of schedule shouldn't be very high, especially if Ohio State loses another game or two. Those other two teams' strength of schedule should increase.

Do they have the extra game if there are still two undefeated teams after the bowl games this year, or does that start next year?

And then there were six.

Texas destroys Texas Tech, scratch one unbeaten.

Alabama squeaks by Tennessee, Georgia nudges Arkansas.

USC and UCLA win easily.

Va Tech wins last night, beating #13 Boston College 30-10.

Alabama has what should be an easy game against Utah State.
Georgia has a tough game against Florida. Georgia is without starting QB Shockley.
USC plays Washington State - should be easy win.
UCLA plays a much improved Stanford team.
Texas plays a bad Oklahoma State team.

Only teams with potential losses are Georgia and UCLA. I think Georgia goes down this week.

UGA - out. Sucks for them because they would have won if Shockley was healthy.

Agreed -- watched the game, FLA did not impress.

Alabama wins big, USC rolls.

UCLA wins in OT over Stanford.

Texas in shootout with Okie State.

Georgia losing hurts Boise's strength of schedule, but not too much.

Too bad Vandy couldn't have pulled it off against Florida...

Yea.

That QB was playing so well too.

I predict Alabama defeats LSU, then loses to Auburn. If they manage to get through that storm, they'll drop the SEC Championship game to Georgia.
