In case you missed it, Bruce Bowen hit Michael Finley with a cheap shot last night, leveling him as he turned around to run back up the court.

Anyway, Danny Fortson had something to say afterward, and he mentioned Zarko...

(I got this quote off of another website--no link. I believe it's from the Dallas Morning News, which requires registration etc. to view.)

"I thought Bowen knocking down Finley was a dirty play and I think he meant it," said Dallas forward Danny Fortson, who was suspended earlier this season for a flagrant foul on Phoenix's Zarko Cabarkapa that broke the rookie's wrist. "I think that play was a little worse than the play I had against Phoenix. Mike could've gotten hurt, too. (The) thing is that Mike just has stronger bones than that kid in Phoenix. If Mike would have broke something than it would have been like a three game suspension or something. But it still don’t make it right. Mike was our hot guy. For him to come in there and nail him just isn’t right"

:computer:

Phoenix plays in Dallas next Monday, and Dallas plays in Phoenix in exactly a week, on March 13...wish I could be there.

Fortson should be suspended for being the biggest horse's ass in the NBA. He deliberately harms a player, kills more than two months of his season and risks his career but claims that what happened to Finley was worse because "he's our hot guy".

This guy needs to be banned from the NBA. It is one thing to do something stupid in the rush of the moment. But he still doesn't think he did anything wrong.

Bruce Bowen is dirty. The dirtiest player in the league.

Earlier this season he intentionally tried to injure Vince Carter and did by sliding his foot under Vince's when he was taking a jumpshot so he would land on his foot and roll his ankle.

Just watching Bowen he does a lot of dirty things and intentional

Carter, Finley and Allen have called him out now and described him as a dirty player.

Maybe the Suns could have White defense him. :D

Bruce Bowen is a dirty player, but he's good. It's hard to argue that his defense is effective. I know he drives Shawn Marion nuts. A lot of the "great" defensive players in the NBA have been dirty. Larry Bird is often regarded as the dirtiest player of all time.

I can't believe that Fortson is suggesting that Cabarkapa was injured because he doesn't have strong bones. What he did to Zarko was 10 times dirtier than the hit Bruce Bowen put on Michael Finley last night.

Dirtiest of all time? In a age that produced Bill Lambier, Rick Mahorn (sp), and Bad New Barnes - that is pretty heady company. :D

He might not be as good as people think. Ray Allen brought up that he can just pressure you non stop, without worrying about you getting past him because Duncan is in the middle.

I do think that Duncan makes him look better than he is.If he were on a team without the dominating big guy in the middle, his defense would be just slightly above average.

Oh, I agree. It does help guys like Bruce Bowen to have a good shot blocker in the paint. In fact he has two 7 footers waiting in the paint behind him. Of course the same thing can be said for Kobe Bryant's defense and maybe to a lesser extent Artest's.

I agree. A real straight on shot blocker is much more valuable than just how many shots are blocked or distorted. He can permit his teammates to play really tight. Ironically, the problem so many players have with mid range shots simply re-inforces the value of a shot blocker.
