A Firm Pass on Ramsey

While the Cards have shown interest in adding a veteran CB, trading for Ramsey is not the answer IMO. Two teams have elected to move him despite solid on-the-field performance. Additionally his contract would have to be restructured after 2025 as the escalation is unacceptable. Negotiating an extension for a then 31 year old corner is a bridge too far for me.

Super talented but there has to be a reason the GM just came out and said, we're looking to trade him while also saying he didn't ask to be traded. Kind of strange on the GM's part. Especially when they just gave him a big contract just last year.

he does bring drama but he's also exactly what JG likes in a corner... 6'2, great tackler, and ball skills.

PFF had him as a top 20 corner last year.

I think the Dolphins GM is awful fwiw, he was the one that gave him that very same extension.

Talent-wise, there’s no doubt. I just don’t get why people, two years later, still don’t believe Monti and JG when they say over and over and prove over and over what types of things they prioritize in players. Ramsey will never play under this regime.

Would this team be better with Ramsey on it? Definitely yes- undeniable, his production is still at an elite level and whatever his off the field concerns are- the dude still has at least a couple good years left. He is ranking in the top 20 corners on a Miami team that had a 38 year old Campbell (now 39 on our team) as their best pass rusher.

If Ramsey took a deflated restructured contract and Miami paid a portion of his salary this year while only requiring a throw away draft pick to get him? Hell yes I’d pull that trigger. How many post do you anticipate being made along the lines of “I can’t watch SMB play another snap, how did we not upgrade at corner with all our cap space”

Will this happen? Nothing is zero- but seems highly unlikely.

There's a reason he doesn't last more than 2 years on a team. Culture is the number 1 goal for Monti and JG.
