When I look at this list I do not think that the suns will be interested in a player that has a restriction on him, so I have eliminated them from my thoughts on who to sign. Why waste the time.
It appears that the suns will have to replace Googs, Williams, & McDyess, so they will need an experienced big to do that.

-------------------------------------------
I am thinking the suns will keep CJ and he looks like his shot is coming around and he knows how to play the game and that is why he is playing now.
Therefore we will probably look big especially if they can sign the foreign player to come over and play guard.

(that is for a free agent)

The suns may decide to keep white but they will still need one more big.

Adonal Foyle, FA, 4.4M$
This guy has been in Golden state long enough and probably wants a change. Should be resonable.

Vlade Divac, FA, 12M$
I am not sure Vlade would come here no matter about the other foreign players. Vlade may stay another year at Sac. just to try for a championship, unless they get one this year, then he may play a year with someone like Phx.

Dan Gazuric, FA, 600k$
This guy would be a great pick-up, but Milwaukee would be very foolish to let him go so he may not be available.

I would think that Boozer will re-sign with Cleveland and enjoy the ride with LaBron. If not he would be a good pick-up.
Carlos Boozer, FA, 600K$

I still think Okur will resign with Detroit, but if not a good pick-up but also may be too expensive.
Mehmet Okur, FA, 1.1M$

Best role player options in my opinion

PG
1. Brent Barry as a tweener
2. Carlos Arroyo

SG
1. Brent Barry
2. Quentin Richardson
3. Wesley Person
4. Fred Hoiberg
5. Morris Peterson

SF
1. Darius Miles
2. Rodney White
3. Toni Kukoc
4. Eric Williams

PF
1. Stromile Swift 6'9-6'10
2. Carlos Boozer 6'8-6'9
3. Camby/Okur
4. Chris Mihm 7'

C
1. Mehmet Okur 6'11
2. Marcus Camby 6'11-7'
3. Vlade Divac
4. Dan Gazuric 6'11
5. Etan Thomas 6'10
6. Erick Dampier 6'11 - might not be FA

Best storyline, Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles.

Possible star FAs or FAs that don't want to be role players:

Rasheed Wallace, Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant, Kenyon Martin, Latrell Sprewell, Karl Malone, Gary Payton, Emanuel Ginobili (wouldn't want to backup), Jamal Crawford (has an ego), Bonzi Wells (no backup), Kurt Thomas(no backup).

I like Barry as a 3rd guard.

He would be to this team what Danny Ainge was to the teams of the early 90's. He would be an effective crunch time player and a 3 pt gunner. He's actually a pretty good defender as well.

His shooting percentages indicate that he is quite economical in his shot selection--just the thing we need.

We probably need to sign a vet big guy. Lampe is only 18, he might end up being very good but that could be 2 or 3 years away. We'll need someone to fill the void until he is ready.

I think that if we don't draft a backup for Amare , Swift would be the perfect backup.
Basically a less talented version of Amare with the same athleticism.

Boozer would also be excellent but I would like to have some good athletes on the bench as well and not only in the starting lineup.

Voshkul/Lampe
Amare/Swift
Marion/Zarko
JJ/BBarry
Barbosa/Milos

That leaves 2 roster spots preferably a F/C and a G/F.

IR: White, Eisley, Jacobsen - Well the injured list guys are the same in all my scenarios.

I would like an SG who is a good pure shooter and be willing to come off the bench: Brent Barry or Wes Person fit if the price is right.

I would like a strong defensive center who can rebound and block shots. Okur is more of an offensive threat than a defender. Swift is too small to be a center (he is listed at 230).

When I brought up Gazuric a few weeks ago, most of the comments were negitive. I'd go for him if he was not too expensive, but he would be strictly a role player.

Swift started a lot of games at center for the Grizz.
He is very muscular.

Anyway he would be a backup for the Suns at the 4 and 5. His size is perfectly ok at the 4 and good enough to play against 2nd unit centers.

With Barry, a lot will depend on how healthy is perceived to be. If he is 100%, he should get $4-5 million. If there are doubts, he gets $2-2.5 million for a short contract.

I can't see Jerry West letting Swift go. He's out of position but still does a pretty good job. I agree, I think he will be too expensive since he is not a long range solution.

It wouldn't surprise me if Swift is traded before the deadline. Ion so don't believe Jerry West will let him go for nothing. I would love it if the Phoenix Suns signed Brent Barry for a reasonable contract, but I think the only way they could attract him would be for a ridiculous salary. I think he was be a fantastic fit for the San Antonio Spurs.

I believe Quentin Richardson is going to be a bad signing for somebody. IMO he epitomizes the current young, American NBA prospects. He is a good athlete who does not shoot and pass the ball well. He is a very streaky scorer. There's no way he should get anything over the mid-level exception.

He is on a team with only $8.6 million in salaries guaranteed for next year and is getting starter minutes on a playoff level team. He is not going anywhere.

I'm not so sure that Utah will overpay for him, but I know that the Phoenix Suns will not.

We have talked about all this money for free agency, but if the Suns really do intend to bring over Vujanic I'll bet it's going to cost at least $2 million per season.

I agree. I do not understand all these posts about point guards like Felton and Gordon in draft or Arroyo just because he is under paid. Barbosa has unlimited potential and Vujanic would be an early lottery pick if he came out this year. I would not kill any cap space on another PG.

I think Kyle Korver would be a better choice. Younger and cheaper. Even though CJ has improved his shot since last year I think Korver is the much better shooter right now.

HoopsHype profile:

"A truly outstanding 3 point shooter. Can't create his own shot. Lacks athleticism. Can he adjust to the physical play of the NBA?"
HoopsHype

His stats are weird. He is shooting only 40% from the field but 47.3% for 3 pointers.

Yeah that report sounds accurate. When I've seen him play this year he has been lights out when given any space beyond the arc. If we're looking for a sniper I think he's our man.

Can he be more than a 10 minute a game role player?

Honestly don't konw how much he can develop. Right now he is a deadly shooter and not much else. He gets in foul trouble largely due to getting no respect from the refs. He is only a rookie so I'm sure he can improve his game, I'm just not sure how much(only seen the nationaly televised 6ers games).

Also I'm not sure how great our need for a shooter really is. Barbosa seems to be shooting well, by all accounts Milos is a great shooter and CJ did make improvements since last year. Personally I'd like to see us get someone that can play the high post center.

He does sound a lot like CJ, although I think Casey has a bit more game but not the shooting consistency. I think the jury is out on CJ, but if he is replaced it has to be by someone who can play defense as well as shoot.

Cavs beat Sonics without Lebron James.

Boozer 32points 20rebounds 4assists

Against Utah the game before he had 32points 18rebounds.

Maybe he should be our main target. Why did we not draft him! ARgh!

6th man or start Amare at center against the majority of teams.

Though I would guess that he is a Utah guy, meaning Utah will throw as much as they can at him.

Why would he want to leave Cle though? I mean he gets to play next to Lebron, who will make him look better than he is for the next decade. I mean the cavs arent in a hurry to get rid of him either.
