Cardinals | Boldin misses practice, doubtful for Week 6
Fri, 12 Oct 2007 12:37:20 -0700

Darren Urban, of AZCardinals.com, reports Arizona Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin (hip) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 12, and is listed as doubtful for Week 6.

The only update is that there is little change in the injury status of the Cards. Anquan Boldin will again be listed as doubtful, and he probably won't play (although he assured me in the locker room he will be ready for Washington next week). Bryant Johnson looked pretty good and should be OK. Levi Brown is out. EDIT: David Carr came back to practice Friday and should play Sunday for the Panthers at quarterback.

Again, how bad off can he really be if he's dorking off and wrestling Steve Breaston to the ground?

While this isn't good for my fantasy team, Quan's stats, or his chances of a Pro Bowl berth, I'm assuming this is a bit more precautionary than anything. The Panthers are pretty beaten up this week, and we might want to save him for a stronger matchup, or even until after the bye. I'd rather see Boldin entirely healthy for the big stretch in November than hurt in a game we might be able to win without him.

then why not at least upgrade him to questionable? I don't know, it could all be gamesmanship.

Because they've decided he's not going to play. "Doubtful" means a 75% chance of not playing.

He told Urban he's playing next week, I'm not worried. He even said in today's paper that if it was a big game this week, he could play.

I hope you're right, but I don't think I trust Boldin's word in this. Also, if they know he isn't playing, why not list him as "out?"

Because once they list him as "out" they can't play him. By leaving him at doubtful, he can still play in an emergency. Like a couple of weird injuries to WRs or something.

At least, I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

Is everything

What? This game is as big as any other on the schedule. There are almost no easy wins in the NFL. Anyone who thinks this will be a cakewalk hasn't been paying attention. And if the players think this isn't a "big game" then look out for a loss on sunday.

Sorry for misleading you...

He said if it was the playoffs or Super Bowl, he'd be playing.

I think the good news is that we can win games without Boldin playing, just think how great it will be when he returns. This is the storey of 2007 Cards, we have lost key players and yet, found someone else to step up and be counted. This is how championship teams are made. It used to be that we lose one key player and we were done as a team for the season, no more. Heck, we lose our starting QB and the backup steps in and plays at a higher level. How good is that, and we even sign another QB (Hasselbeck) to back him up. Even our GM is stepping up. I love it.

I just dont get the point in listing him as doubtful. Just list him as out. They know full well he wont be playing. They said as much when they say that if he can't practice he wont play.

No clue what Im talking about?

I've been watching. Many moons.

Just don't see the super hero in him like you all. He has made some amazing plays. Like when he broke 8 tackles against whatever team and went in for the touchdown.

He has missed games in every season so far correct?

No that is incorrect. Didnt miss a single game his rookie year or last season. He missed 6 games in his 2nd year 2 in his 3rd and so far 3 this year.

He has remained pretty darn healthy for a guy that takes the pounding he does. Even in his 3rd year when he missedf 2 games he still matched Larry with 101 catches and over 1400 yards.
