Or, really, a quarterback who has had less than 70 live-fire dropbacks in the National Football League.

Yep. Navarre really gets the short end of the stick on here.

I agree. Denny sees him every day in practice but we act like we know if he's any good or not and i still don't know what that is based upon. If he had no talent or ability then he'd would've been cut by now, especially being a 7th round pick.

The thought of facing Young as an opponent scares me more than the prospect that he might be a bust,

On a side note, I remember watching FSU fight a losing battle to NC State several years ago. After the game I called my brother (Krang) and told him how much this one kid for FSU impressed me. How much I hated the fact that Anquan Boldin would be lining up against the Cardinals on Sunday because they'd be too stupid to take him.

When the Cards traded away the pick that would have been Suggs he became furious and claimed he'd never watch them again. A couple of hours later, they take Quan and we're all jumpng for joy.

Back to Suggs. He was a polarizing figure predraft. Looking back, who is happy that we traded that pick? If Young is there at 10 I hope they gamble on greatness and pull the trigger.

That draft taught me a lesson. Never forget what you saw on film. I don't care that Vernon Davis ran a 4.38 40, Vince Young won a National Championship in a rather impressive fashion.

It's the same with Suggs. I saw a pass rushing demon on the field and I let myself be fooled by draft hype.

One of you referred to Byron Leftwich and I'd like to comment on him.

So far, Leftwich has done nothing of note except get hurt and underperform. David Garrard, his backup, is more effective than Byron is. Reading all the stuff during the playoffs last year, apparently most of the Jaguar players wanted Garrard to remain the starting QB but the coach reinserted Leftwich after his ankle had healed.

Remember, Byron had hurt his ankle here against the Cards, and Garrard beat us with his legs and his arm.

i think you're being unfair here skorp. byron has played pretty well in his young career. unfortunately he's been the victim of injuries. when he's played he's played well. especially considering that the jag's weapons are less than intimidating (an 80 year old jimmy smith and a decrepid freddy taylor).

also, i think the reason the jag players wanted to stick with garrard was for reasons of continuity, not preference in regards to ability. garrard had been leading that team for a few weeks at that point and byron was coming off injury. it's understandable that the team would prefer the "if it ain't broke, why fix it" approach.

I couldn't agree more. I can only go by what I see. It is interesting to think that whoever he plays for, he will probably be the best athlete on the field. It is hard to imagine a guy that has defensive end size and cornerback speed. There isn't another one out there like him.

It is also wise to remember that none of us here are experts and even the experts make mistakes all the time. I remember a few years ago when almost everyone on this site thought that drafting Tommie Harris would be a mistake because he was almost a sure bust. Everyone thought that he was over rated and to small. This was almost unquestioned in the opinion of everyone at ASFN. We see how right we were on that one.:)
