Too much good stuff
College football has lowered itself to the equivalent of a beauty pageant. It's all about the logo, superficial "what if's", and hypothetical chances. Hardly anybody schedules many meaningful OOC games anymore. Hell, even the unamimous top 2 teams this year haven't played a schedule that clearly warrants a #1 status. What is accomplished on the field has become almost second to how good your argument is compared to another team's shorcomings and the quality of your cat-fighting skills. Teams, media and fans now build support for their cause mostly by tearing down the credibility of other teams and conferences. College football fans have become ugly, like an episode of the Jerry Springer show.
Those who like the BCS system claim it's great because each game is so vitaly important. But in reality, the BCS rankings now hinge mostly on pre-season public opinion and scheduling. The two most important factors in a season becomes 1) getting the lucky bounces to go your way in the few actual games played that matter, and 2) at what point in the season you get a loss.
College football proves why the NFL is king. We need a complete overhaul of the BCS system.
