Watching re-runs of "The Middle" on ABC Family and I saw two curious ads.

First, they are having a "13 Days of Halloween" marathon with movies like "Hocus Pocus" and "Beetlejuice". What is the sponsor of this great event? "Carrie" (Rated R). Seemed a little off that an adult horror flick would sponsor anything on ABC Family. So I imagine we will see lots of pig's blood trailers during these lighter Halloween movies.

Maybe it shouldn't surprise me that much though, because ABC Family also aired "Pretty Woman" last night, which was also rated R when it came out. Sure, they can edit it down and the R-rated flicks from 1990 seem pretty tame by today's standards. Still, the central theme is prostitution.

Does that strike anyone else as a little odd on this channel?

I hate this. ABC family is NOT family. The only stuff I watch with my kids that I believe is appropriate is Disney Channel, HGTV, DIY and Food Network...

Also, why do they have to run Viagra ads every ten minutes during sports broadcasts? The NFL and MLB both market themselves as family entertainment? The ads are cryptic enough but the disclaimer is R rated. "If you have an erection that last 4 hours, if your heart is not healthy enough for sex." Try explaining this to your 10 year old daughter.

They are. But ABC family is syndicating ABC's "The Middle". I got into it in the second season, so I was catching up on early episodes when I saw these ads.

First season of Modern Family is the best, then it consistently declines after that. Still good TV, but not as great as it once was.

The Middle seems to be more consistent from season to season. A very underrated show, IMO.

Honestly your the first person I have ever seen mention it besides me and my wife. Everyone looks at us and asks if we mean malcolm in the middle when I say the middle. Sue is straight up hilarious, axle is fun but also overkill at times.

I love modern family so if it was better at the beginning I should be in for a treat. Itll be a drag to go from the two most recent back to the beginning with already knowing the charectors and such but should still be fun.

The recent episode with Jay and Glorias son in line for a birth certificate on the same day gay marriage was made legal was friggin hilarious

This bugs the hell out of me.
