Flitter is the Son of Ace Ventura
Source: Morgan Creek Productions
July 17, 2007

Josh Flitter has landed the coveted role of the son of everyone's favorite pet detective in the new Morgan Creek comedy Ace Ventura 3, directed by David Mickey Evans, it was announced today by James G. Robinson, Chairman and CEO of Morgan Creek Productions.

Allrighty-then. After his African adventure in Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, Ace returned to Florida, married girlfriend Melissa and became the doting father of a baby boy. Never one to sit still, Ace's curious nature took him on another remote case. The goofball gumshoe was never to be seen or heard from again.

Single mom Melissa couldn't fully put the past behind her. Now a zookeeper, she and Ace Jr. (Flitter) have made a life carrying on without her husband. Much to Melissa's chagrin, however, 12-year-old Ace Jr. has begun to follow in his father's comic footsteps. He has recently become a pet detective for the 7th grade set, often trying to recover classmates' missing pets, and always with big mishaps.

But when a master animal thief abducts a baby panda and his mom is wrongly arrested of the crime, Ace Jr. must jump into action. Now, with the help of pals Laura and tech wizard A-Plus, young Ace must bring the thief to justice and do his inane and lovable dad's memory justice.

Ace Ventura 3, will be directed by David Mickey Evans and is scheduled to begin principal photography on September 17, 2007 in Orlando, Florida. Josh Flitter will star in the title role as Ace Ventura Jr. The screenplay was written by Jason Heimberg, Justin Heimberg and Jeff Sank and will be produced by James G. Robinson. David Robinson will also serve as a producer with Morgan Creek's Guy McElwaine executive producing.

Yet another sequel to a Jim Carrey film that he will NOT appear in. The MO is that it will fail miserably.

Isn't that the third one that they did that with, Carrey sequel with no Carrey?

It is 4.

I was only comparing it to the sequels which flopped, not Evan Almighty. Even though Evan Almighty didn't get the best reviews or do as well as expected at the box office - it is clearly the best sequel made without Carrey. A lot of people I know saw it and liked it. It's also a bit different in that it's a role that anyone else could be plugged into for a 3rd or 4th film.

I guess it could be argued that Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd was really a prequel and not a sequel, but I don't think anyone would care enough to argue that point... :D

MESA! :thud:
yeah, I forgot about Evan Almighty. I almost don't consider that a sequel...more like a spin-off, if that makes sense.
