Actor Michael Jace, who played a police officer on the hit TV show "The Shield," was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of shooting his wife to death in their Los Angeles home, authorities said.

April Jace, 40, was dead by the time authorities arrived at the couple's home in the quiet, modest neighborhood of Hyde Park on Monday night. Officers responded to the house after receiving a report that shots had been fired, Officer Chris No said.

Michael Jace was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of homicide, No said. He was being held in a Los Angeles jail in lieu of $1 million bail.

Calls from The Associated Press seeking comment from Jace's agent and manager were not immediately returned.

Jace, 51, is best known for his role as LAPD Officer Julien Lowe in the TV series "The Shield." He also appeared on the show "Southland" and had small roles in the movies "Planet of the Apes," ''Boogie Nights" and "Forrest Gump."

Jace and his wife were married for nine years and have two young sons. Lt. John Jenal told City News Service that two children under 10 were at the single-family home at the time of the shooting. They were in protective custody, he said. It could not be immediately confirmed if the children were those of the couple.

Veteran actor tells police he shot and killed wife

http://news.msn.com/crime-justice/veteran-actor-tells-police-he-shot-and-killed-wife

Michael Jace projected the image of a doting, hands-on father and husband to neighbors, but authorities are now trying to determine what prompted the veteran actor to tell police he shot and killed his wife while his young sons were in the home.

According to police, Jace shot his wife multiple times after she returned home with their children Monday evening. He called 911 and told a police dispatcher what he did and stepped out of the home just as officers arrived to find April, his wife of nearly 11 years, dead in the hallway. The handgun, which detectives believe belonged to the actor, was recovered from the home, and the couple's sons were handed over to relatives after Jace was taken into custody.

L.A. cops hack into iPhone of actor Michael Jace’s murdered wife

http://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/celebri...murdered-wife/ar-BBsG4CQ?li=BBnb4R7&ocid=iehp

Los Angeles cops have found a way to break into the locked iPhone that belonged to murdered ex-wife of “The Shield” actor Michael Jace — a device that investigators believe holds text messages proving she and her husband argued just before her 2014 death.

A “forensic cellphone expert” overrode security features on April Jace’s cell phone earlier this year, but detectives did not detail how the expert hacked into the device, according to court papers obtained by the Los Angeles Times.

Jace is accused of gunning down April Jace in front of their two young children inside their Los Angeles home in May 2014.

The trial against the actor was put on hold earlier this year so his lawyers could scour the dead woman’s cellphone, a white iPhone 5S that both prosecutors and defense attorneys believe is a vital key to the case.

While Investigators said the couple argued via text on the day April Jace was gunned down, Jace’s legal team claimed there is evidence on the phone that proves April Jace was having an affair. In January, Defense lawyer Jason Siad argued that Jace may have snapped moments before the shooting due to something on the device.

“(He) may have been looking at something relevant that pushed him over the edge,” Sias said during a hearing in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

A judge allowed the trail postponement so the defense could more thoroughly search the cell phone for such possible evidence
