Cooper Kupp is a free agent, and he'd like to join the Denver Broncos.

That's according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, who dropped the nugget during an appearance with Polumbus, Hastings and DMac on Altitude Sports 92.5 FM on Thursday.

"I think if Cooper Kupp had his way, I think he would like to be in Denver," Schefter told Altitude Sports. "I think that'd be one of the places that would appeal to him. That I would say -- I feel comfortable in saying that."

So why did Schefter frame it that way? He might be suggesting that Kupp is interested in the Broncos, but he's not certain if Denver will be willing to pay the receiver's asking price.

"I'm sure he's going to talk to Denver -- I'm sure they're going to talk to him," Schefter said. "Are they going to be able to get a deal done? Let's see how far Denver's willing to go -- I don't know the answer to that."

The Athletic's Jeff Howe has reported that teams believe somebody will end up giving Kupp around $12 million per season. The Broncos might have to do some cap manipulating to make that price work (and they could), but it remains to be seen if the team wants to.

It's also possible that Kupp's asking price could go down. If nobody meets the receiver's demands and he remains unsigned, things could change.

Stay tuned. We will continue to track the latest Kupp developments and all of Denver's free agency moves on Broncos Wire.
