At least he won't take a full season of poundings. He'll still be a top pick.
That's what I said last year too, the ankle injury probably saved him because it was obvious Stoops was going to kill him with 35 carries a game. I really hope he comes out Stoops is just going to abuse him again next year if he doesn't.
Remember this is the same kid that openly talked about coming to the NFL straight out of HS when the Clarett ruling came down and he and Williams entered the draft before they overruled that decision and let them both sit out. Peterson was the one HS player that was considering jumping, so he's as good as gone now.
I was wondering how long it would be before you posted on this thread.
So, looking at the current standings, how do you think he'll look as a Texan next year?
I love Peterson the kid has that rare combo of speed and power and he's also not easy to tackle. I think he'll go very high, and yes to the Texans would make sense. I'd love to get him or Lynch in Arizona but I have to admit I'm not anxious to lose all the games it would take to get one of them.
And I'd rather we can load up on Ol and CB and not be in a position where we simply can't pass on a RB that's too good because we're picking too high to reach for another position.
Aikman and Smith went in back-to-back drafts for the Cowboys, the thought of Leinart and Peterson going back-to-back to the Cardinals sounds too good to pass up if the opportunity presents itself. Heck, maybe we can trade Edge for the OL help that we need.
Maybe we can trade Edge to the Vikings for 5 players and 8 draft picks!!!
I kind of think we're destroying any trade value Edge may have had.
Ah yes, Leinart/Peterson with Edge playing the role of Herschel Walker and the Cardinals can start a dynasty of their own.
If Edge can only get 1.5 yards per carry why do you think Peterson would do any better? Fix the line first.
I don't think anybody can run behind this OL in its present form. However, give me the choice between Edge and Peterson in the backfield and I will take Peterson without hesitation. Peterson is only 21 years old and a huge talent. I would like to believe that sooner rather than later the Cardinals will get their OL problems squared away. I view Peterson as a long-term stabilizer at the RB position while Edge is certainly heading towards the downside of his career.
You can't have it all and James is on the payroll for a few more years. Edge has plenty left in the tank, and really RB is no longer one of the most important positions in the NFL anyway. Fix the line - we can get another RB in a few years.
