Dynasty Predictions

Here’s how we see the Dynasty playing out.

Jon Moxley vs. Swerve Strickland

I had Moxley winning until Wednesday. Now I predict Hangman Adam Page will interfere and help Swerve win. I think Swerve coming clean absolves him of his sins in Page’s eyes. I just hope these guys don't kill each other. Both are known for doing crazy things. I want a great match and both guys safe. They will go all out. But for the second year in a row, Dynasty is Swerve’s house.

Toni Storm vs. Megan Bayne

The card is loaded, but in my eyes, two of the biggest things on the card are the women’s matches. Toni Storm might be the best thing in wrestling. She’s entertaining, funny, unpredictable and when she’s on, you gotta watch. Can’t take the title off of her, but Bayne looks strong going in. Toni Storm retains.

Kenny Omega vs. Ricochet vs. Mike Bailey

If you’re new to Mike Bailey, he’s amazing. He’s going into a match with two of the best and he will not look out of place. I don’t think he wins though, although he will soon get gold. I think Ricochet would be a good champ, but Omega shouldn’t lose yet. I’m sticking with the Cleaner. Omega retains.

Wheeler Yuta, PAC and Claudio Castagnoli vs. Cope, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler

I would like to see the good guys win just because I love when tag team champs hate each other, (Lance Storm and Chris Candito were my favorite!) but I don’t see that happening. The Death Riders deserve to win, they’ve been more entertaining than the good guys, and I’m hoping a loss here will ignite some sort of feud. I’m thinking FTR turns on Cope next week, but that’s a pure guess. Nothing would surprise me, and that’s good. I’m sticking with Mox’s boys. Champs retain.

Daniel Garcia vs. Adam Cole

I like Daniel Garcia, he’s been a good champ and had a nice reign. But it’s time, bay bay! Adam Cole might get a lot of flack online, but he’s still one of the best in the business. I hope he turns full bad soon because he’s way better as a jerk, and a good way to do that would be to have interference in match where it's illegal (isn't it illegal in all matches?) but I see him leaving Philly in gold. Boom!

Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin vs. Big Bill and Bryan Keith

This is a real shame. Brian Cage’s injury derailed the planned match, and it’s a huge shame because not only is Cage a great wrestler, he really is a good dude. But this match was kind of thrown together, and I’m fine with it. Big Bill and Bryan Keith will put up a fight, but they’re going to get Hurt. Plus, MJF could get involved. He seems like the kind of guy who would do something like that! Champs retain.

Chris Jericho vs. Bandido

From the first time I saw him in ECW, I loved Jericho. Loved him in WCW, loved him in WWE, loved him at the start of AEW. I’m done with him. He’s a legend, but he should now be a special attraction, not a guy who is on every week unless he finds a way to be fun again. Bandido needs to win here. He’s a perfect ROH champ, he’s a great wrestler and he’s entertaining. Complete opposite of his opponent. Bandido with the upset.

Congratulations, it’s official!

Will Ospreay vs. Kevin Knight

I see Ospreay winning the tournament, so obviously I’m picking him here, but I can’t see this being a bad match. This will be the match of the night, and a perfect way for Kevin Knight to show who he is. Don’t miss this one. Ospreay wins.

Mercedes Moné vs. Julia Hart

I don’t like this match because one has to lose, and that’s not a good reason to not like a match. Hart is a star. She’s awesome. She can wrestle, she’s mysterious, she is so much different than the cheerleader she portrayed when she got to AEW. But Mercedes is Mone. I think the biggest match AEW can do, men’s or women’s, is Storm-Mone. So I’d like to see them stay spotless until that match happens. I’m going with Mone.

Mark Briscoe vs. Kyle Fletcher

If this were in St. Louis or Memphis or Dallas or the West Coast, I could make a case for Kyle Fletcher to win because he is awesome. But it’s in Philly. Philly loves Dem Boys. The fans will be behind Briscoe, and I challenge you to find someone who is more entertaining, no matter what he’s doing. The word of the day is Mark wins!

Potential surprises

I'm no insider. I watch, I interview guys occasionally, but I never talk about insider stuff because I don't write for a "dirt sheet!" I write for a newspaper, so I don't get too into free agents and signings. So these are off the top of my head of guys I'd like to see. And whenever AEW is in Philly, Tony Khan pays homage to ECW.

Matt Cardona

I don't understand why this guy isn't signed. If you're a casual who doesn't go to indies, Woo Woo Woo, you're missing his finest work ever. He's a great bad guy who proved how good of a wrestler he was at the last ROH PPV. He would get a huge reaction.

Here's my ECW pick. This guy was the MVP of ECW from its early days until he left the promotion after the first PPV. He can do anything. I'm not sure I'd use him as a wrestler, but he has a very popular podcast and if he showed up, kicked someone and then became a jerk mouthpiece, I think Philly would be very happy. You'll see! I'd also be down to hear "Enter Sandman" and see him pop up, but that would be more of a one-off.

Luke Hawx

This is a guy who would get a great reaction in Philly and at the same time really help AEW. Not only is the "Southern Stomper" a big draw in Philly, he has movie experience. With the amount of pretapes AEW does, he could really help. But as a wrestler, he's a great worker and check out his promos on youtube if you're unfamiliar. They're stiff, but that's what wrestling is all about!

Josh Alexander

I remember getting a call from a friend of mine to tell me to check him out because he's the best real wrestler since Kurt Angle. AEW is where the best wrestle, and this guy is certainly one of the best. You could do so much with him. He could have great matches with pretty much the entire roster, and a Philly debut would be pretty cool.

Indi Hartwell

I was torn between adding her or Daria Berenato. Berenato would be huge since she grew up less than an hour away from Temple University, and she's a star in every possible way, but I'm not sure what her future holds. Hartwell is still wrestling and wrestling at a high level. She tore the house down with Mone recently and was one of the most shocking releases. No reason either of these women couldn't be the next Toni Storm. If either are given a chance on a big stage, they'll star.
