What the PFF Ratings Likely Indicate:

* Offense is well below average (only one player with above average rating)
* Defense is above average individually, so why then isn't it playing much better?

(below average team play)

Position Strengths:

DT
CB
S

Position Weaknesses:

RB
WR
TE
T
G
C
ILB

Average Positions:

QB
Edge

Note: Two of the worst rated groups for the Cardinals: G and ILB---so many games hinge on being strong and tough up the middle.

Special Teams (my own assessments) Strengths

Punter

Special Teams Weaknesses

Kicker
Long Snapper
Punt Returns
Punt Coverage

Was this wasting everyone's time? Or, did you find this informative?

Happy Thanksgiving ASFN, to all of you and your families on this holiday,

Mitch

Yeah don't see how PP could possibly be rated 25th. He's consistently one of the top CB's in the league when it comes to completion %, QB Rating, Catch Rate, and he's almost always covering the other teams #1 and shuts them down. He won't get the PD's and INT's like some other CB's, simply because QB's don't throw his way very often.

I tell you what the overall verdict is, though the Patrick Peterson rating is hilarious because most in the league would have him as their number one given the chance acquire him... Bettcher sucks sucks sucks!

If Bettcher would play man more exclusively PP's ranking would be much higher.

The talent isn’t there, either.

Just wait until the Cardinals get a coaching staff that motivates the talent on this team and knows how to develop the talent. Many of the current players aren't being held to the highest standards, because there are so many double standards and a lack of player and coaching accountability.

Having Traymon Williams over PP21 indicates just how reliable PFF’s metrics are.

Tramon Williams has started the last 5 games (prior to that it was all Bethel):

Here are Williams' 5 game stats: 21 tackles, 6 passes defended, 1 interception.

Patrick Peterson's stats the last 5 games: 5 tackles, 6 passes defended, 1 interception.

In 11 starts, Peterson has 16 tackles, 7 passes defended and 1 interception. Those stats are weak, TJ. Yes, Paterson has locked down his man very well and typically he does not get thrown on...so he gets tons of credit there. PP is an elite man-to-man cover CB. No question about that.

But, with the Cardinals playing more zone coverage, Peterson has not shined in that role. Shouldn't we expect him to? With his experience and athletic ability?

Now, I think it's wrong of PFF to have any CB who has played a little as 5 games ranked with all the CBs who have started most of not all of the games, so I agree with you 100% that Tramon should not be ranked higher than Patrick.

But, Tramon Williams has been a nice surprise. He has been a physical presence at RCB and has been consistently efficient. And it's because he's played so well that teams aren't just picking on his side anymore.

I have a question Mitch, and nothing to do with Peterson. Williams has played well for us, and Cooper before has played well for us. A matter of fact we have with guys like Powers have been able to plug in solid number two corners who are vets but every damn year this front office attempts the Bethel and rookie potential route and we are forced again to acquire a vet into the season. My question, at his age does Tramon still have enough to play another season and if not can the Cardinals find a guy in the off season ahead of time. I know they have tried before with guys who I cannot remember at the moment but they have gotten hurt early and this coaching staff seems to want to will Bethel and rookies with potential to be what they are not

Oh look, you're somehow finding a way to have a dig at PP. That's new . . .

And which receiver is Peterson in charge of covering game in and game out? Which receiver is Williams in charge of covering? Which CB gets more safety help?

I would like to see the Cardinals re-sign Tramon and draft a CB with one of their top 3 picks. It look to me like at his age he hasn't declined all that much. He sure is putting a lick on people and we need that.

That is the same thing I was thinking Mitch and I would get that done before the season was out

PP has fewer tackles because they DON"T THROW THERE... Williams has a LOT more tackles because they COMPLETED THE PASS (that he was supposed to stop) against him and he was close enough to tackle. These stats are meaningess (but they do provide pseudo analysis for your obvious hate for PP)

You have NO, absolutely NO credibility anymore if all you are doing is regurgitating meaningless stats that do not reflect what we just watched in a game (which is the problem with ALL those stats) in order to back up some mindless axe against one of best (discount DJ and he is our best) players.

When they have already CAUGHT THE PASS that he was supposed to prevent, "putting a lick" on the guy is pretty much immaterial.
This MUST be a joke. I have no rational explanation for this, other than that.
