24 games into the season, the Diamondbacks have a record or 14-10, putting them one and one-half games behind the Dodgers for the NL West lead. Their .583 percentage is tied for 4th best of the 16 teams in the National League.

This is certainly better than we anticipated. But, surprisingly, it should be even better.

STARTING PITCHING -- Outstanding

Our five starters' ERA's are Vazquez - 6.11 (but much better since his horrible start); then Ortiz - 3.60; Halsey - 3.21; Webb - 3.24; and Estes - 3.38.

LONG RELIEF -- Horrible

CLOSER -- Very good

Lyon, leading the league in saves. What a surprise, after having lost our two Closers to injury.

THE BENCH -- Mediocre. Except for Tony Clark -- Outstanding

STARTING LINEUP -- Disappointing

Except for Clark's .323 average (part-time), Gonzo's .300 leads the club. Those posters who think that Luis is over the hill . . . don't be so quick to want to see him gone.

Our lineup, which has the potential to be among the best in the league, is inconsent, except for Gonzo.

Just like this year's Suns, once we saw what they were capable of doing (regardless of low expectations), we want to see good things.

As the season progresses, my expectations are not the .500 club that many predicted. We're capable of winning the Division. Let's do it.

Well i disagree with you about the bench. When you consider we have Cintron, Hariston, Clark, Terrero and once we get McCrackhead back on it, we will be fine. Actually, a damn good bench. I think we really just need to get Cruz Jr. back that will stabalize the lineup, that should give Glaus and Green some better pitches to swing at.

McCrackhead??? C'mon, now. He's done everything asked of him in his two stints with D'backs and done it well.

Actually, Hairston was brought up to fill Cruz, Jr.'s spot and has hardly been used. So he'll be gone when Jose returns.

Cintron and Terrero should be given the chance to start somewhere else. They're not that strong as subs.

That leaves Kata and 'Q' as true subs. And, of course, the sensational Tony Clark.

i'm EXTREMELY impressed that Vasquez has been able to get himself under control. when you start the season with a 37.6 ERA, after your first game with a new team, being the guy who replaced RJ....that's tough. but his last 3 starts he has a 1.5 ERA, and lowered his overall to 5.11 i believe.

i thought that we were in for a LONG season with both him and half the rest of the starting rotation. Estes and Ortiz have amazed me, and Hasley has come out of NOWHERE.

i am impressed to say the least. we are playing like a veteran team, that knows what it takes to win.

its hard to believe that we have a payroll $20mil less that last year, yet we are 1000000000000 times better and more fun to watch.
