I have it from a reliable but 'anonymous' source, high up in the AZ administration that the entire starting Card team was attending a memorial service for J. McCain (thank you for your service) and missed the entire first 3 and 1/3rd quarters of the game.

The team had to enlist a random assortment of 22 homeless from near State Farm Stadium and unfortunately, they did look like a bunch of homeless, milling aimlessly around the field during that time. The Cards had hopes an undrafted gem might emerge, but such was not the case.

Fortunately, about 1/4 of the team made it to the stadium for the final 3/4ths of the last quarter and almost made it look like a game (too little, way too late, and besides, the Redskins had already figured out they were facing a homeless mob, and lost their seriousness about the whole thing).

This gives us enormous hope for next week, when, it is expected, all the actual Cardinal players will be available. No one was surprised the Redskins (an actual NFL team) dominated, but they may not be as good as looked, having faced nothing but an aimless, milling mob of homeless (many, apparently unversed in the rules, and therefore committing countless penalties).

Next week against the Rams, we will see if our pre-season optimism was misplaced, or if we really have a chance this year. Finally. Go REAL Cards.
