Veteran cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon will return to the Los Angeles Rams for a third season after the two sides agreed to another one-year contract. The 30-year-old started five games for the Rams in 2024 and finished with one interception, nine defended passes and 31 combined tackles.

According to Over The Cap, Witherspoon's one-year deal is worth $1.255 million guaranteed. This is the first time the Rams have given Witherspoon a fully guaranteed deal, meaning he could be in-line to start at cornerback for L.A. in 2025.

Witherspoon started all 17 games in 2023 before starting he rejoined the Rams as a practice squad player in 2024. He made the active roster by Week 8 after playing sporadically earlier in the season and he finished with five starts over the Rams' final six games — including both playoff games.

The Rams don't have much quality depth at cornerback behind Witherspoon, indicating that he should start at one of the outside corner positions even if L.A. takes a cornerback in early in the 2025 NFL Draft. The only other cornerbacks on the Rams' roster are Darious Williams, Cobie Durant and Emmanuel Forbes Jr. Williams and Durant started the majority of games for the Rams in 2024.

Witherspoon, who will be in his ninth NFL season this year, has 12 interceptions, 58 defended passes and 235 combined tackles.
