Jim Steinman wrote a lot of hit songs for Meat Loaf, including "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad".

Apparently, Manager AJ Hinch thinks "One Out Of Three Ain't Bad".

I applaud the way Hinch has pretty much gone with a set lineup. Each player comes to the ballpark knowing his role. It's something that neither of his predecessors -- Brenly or Melvin -- utilized.

But there is still no strategy in our offense. Everyone swings for the fences. Both Mark Grace and Gonzo have emplored the Manager on the air to use the hit-and-run and stolen base to manufacture runs, but to no avail.

And Hinch is giving the same uninspiring quotes to the Press as Bob Melvin did.

Here's what he said when asked if bringing Billy Buckner back up and into the rotation and moving Cesar Valdez to the bullpen would make the team stronger.

Maybe. I don't know. That's a consideration. I think it's possible. It's all debatable.

Are you kidding me? This is leadership? No wonder the team has become an embarrassment.

It's why I believed so strongly that Chip Hale should have replaced Melvin.

Remember, it was Hale who won the Minor League Championship despite the D'backs calling up his best players, the BabyBacks.

He had personality. He had confidence. He had experience.

And now with Hinch, we have none of those. Because Josh Brynes wanted a puppet managing the team.

Hey Josh, one out of three ain't good.

Even the inexperienced Kirk Gibson, with Jay Bell as his Bench Coach, would be an improvement. Not ideal. But an improvement.

Something's gotta change. Quickly.

The Dbacks knew they had a bullpen problem last year and they chose to do next to nothing about it during the off season.

Truth is they put all their eggs in the Brandon Web basket and that basket is broken.

But does that excuse the Manager from conducting his post-game Press conferences like a funeral? "Maybe. I don't know. That's a consideration. I think it's possible. It's all debatable."

Damage control to the public. Enthusiasm to his team. That's his job. It's just not there.

How do you know what he says to the team? You're basing your complaint exactly on what he's saying to the public, which is damage control.

That's pretty bad. It's allmost like he's waiting for upper mngmt. to OK it.

This guy has decent baseball knowlegde, but you wonder about his instincts and ability to put a fire into his team.

I'd start with demoting the entire bullpen with any more bad outings. You go more than two games with leaving runners on base (or a least moving them over), you ride the pine.

That's the problem. A key part of a Manager's responsibility, as opposed to a Bench Coach, is public relations. Especially during each post-game "Press conference" all season long.

In the long run, passiveness is not damage control. It's his job to put a spark in his exposure to the Press and public, not just to the team.

And, just as Bob Melvin, he's not. Not to the Press, not to the public and, evidently, not to the team.

He's just not cut out for the figurehead role.

I would love to see a Joe Torre press conference after another loss in a losing streak or maybe Tony LaRussa. I have a feeling they're not all that different from Hinch.

Hinch, who is the youngest manager in baseball, I think, comes from a mediocre few years of baseball, a stint in the front office, and absolutely NO coaching experience. And people wonder why he is an under-achiever? Really???? REALLY???? My expectations of sub par performance from him were wrong.... He is simply abysmal... and has no business in being the manager of any major league club.
