Wondering what we should do... Maybe it's a fore-gone conclusion that he's going to be cut and it frees up $$, etc... BUT as I look at the roster "depth" right now, I feel pretty good about every area except the O-line. Sendlein has done a very good job to this point though I have read that he struggles against power-rushers, but if we were to lose him for any length of time, what do we do?? The "center" is so key to a good offense. (ie; calling plays, protection-schemes, etc.) I'm sure the coaching staff has plans in-place but what do you guys think?? GO CARDS!!

see ya

he is on IR-- so he is gone for the year.

The only way he could play this season is if the team came to an injury settlement and released him. He would be an unrestricted free agent. The team could try to sign him again at that point, but I have never heard of anybody doing that.

I doubt he is coming back when you have a much cheaper alternative in Sendlein

BUT who's behind Sendlein??

OK! Johnson's gone. Everyone's talking about our "D" having depth this year and we can see what a difference that makes. BUT what about our O-line?? Even if there are NO injuries the rest of the year, and we make the play-offs, isn't there a possibility they'll be worn-down?? Ok! Johnson's gone but the potential problem STILL exists. GO CARDS!!

I thought the Cards did agree to an injury settlement with him a few months ago...Is this not the case?

I will put the over/under at "5" for number of posts after this one until someone advocates signing LeCharles Bentley.

The Ross guy who used to play for Carolina backs up Sendlein. Also, Wells can play center too.

The situation with Johnson is much like the one we had with Dexter Jackson a few years ago. Jackson really didn't have to go on IR, but Green wanted to get rid of him. You can't cut an injured player. About midseason, once Jackson was healthy, he took a settlement, was released and became a free agent. He was signed by Cincy and finished out the year playing for them. I wouldn't be surprised to see a similar scenario happen with Johnson. I hope it happens in time to really help us with some extensions because there is zero doubt that he is done here.

I think his status around here is overblown, but he's still young, so there's time to develop.

I'd love to have him as a backup, but I'd prefer they look for more options come offseason.

Johnson probably will be, and should be, cut in the offseason. Too much money for too little return on investment.
