I would say that his failure to participate in offseason workouts after his illustrious history has the potential to vault him into the top 10.

Just wanted to hear people's top 10s as well as a feel for where Mr. Branch ranks on this scale

How about Pace and Thomas Jones?

I thought about TJ , but did he bad mouth the team? I think it was a mutual split there. Pace didn't really bad mouth the org. either. He just went for his payday like Smith did. Heck Aeneus Williams said more stuff about how cheap the Cardinals are then they did, IMO.

Nobody in the past will ever beat out Wendal Bryant!
Hopefully we will never have this discussion in the future.

I am not positive, but it seems like TJ did have some negative things to say. I even wanna say it wasn't too long ago where he made some negative remarks about the Cardinals.

I remember cringing when we took Branch...

I thought it was a bold-move to move up and I wondered who the Cards had targeted. I was thinking DL/LB and I had quickly poured over my trusty NFL Draft Special Edition newspaper. It read. Alan Branch--Under-acheiver. YUP! They sure nailed that one. I expect him to get cut this year.

Pace also blasted us before and after the Jets game this past season.

Simeon Rice tops the list but after that, unfortunately, we have quite a few candidates

Branch is at the workouts according to Darren Urban. I'm going to give Branch his 3rd year to prove himself since he did come out as a junior. In my opinion this is his make or break year.

Go back & watch the game tapes. Branch can play the game. I'm sure the coaching staffs frustration with him surely centers on his work ethic & game study habits. The talent to impact play is there. He came out after his JR year. Last year was realistically his rookie year. I think he'll be a beast on our D this year.

Boomer Esiason has had some not-so-nice things to say about the Cards organization, and he has a national audience.

I don't know that I'd classify Branch as a first class jerk just a draft bust.

I'd rank Buster Davis as #1 bust because he didn't even make the opening day roster or practice squad as a 3rd round pick.

Wendall Bryant #2

But Branch has a lot of company as second round failures: (Arizona years only)

Tony Jeffrey
Walter Reeves
Anthony Thompson
Tony Sacca
Mike Jones
Chuck Levy
Leeland McElroy
Johnny Rutledge
Michael Stone
Levar Fisher

In the Cards defense Branch is the only 2nd round selection that hasn't been a success in the last 6 drafts. The guys listed above don't even come close to our weakest, imo, 2nd round guy, 2005's JJ Arrington, during that time period.

My top Jerks:

Simeon Rice
Boomer Esiason
Jake Plummer
Michael Pittman
Thomas Jones
David Boston
Leonard Davis
Calvin Pace
Kevin Kasper

Biggest Dissapointments:

1. Wendell Bryant
2. Alan Branch
3. Duane Starks
4. Tom Knight
5. Bryant Johnson
6. Levar Fischer
7. Preston Parsons <-- He should've been great. :D

And Anthony Clement will always have a special place in my heart for being the worst professional athlete I have ever seen. Just horrible. It was embarrassing to have him in Cardinals red doing whatever the heck it was he would do out on the football field. It sure was not "playing football". He looked like a cross eyed giant with peg legs trying to swat at flies.

Top Ten Jerks is different from Top Ten Busts.

Wendall leads the list in busts, but not Jerks.

Buddy clearly was the Mother of all Jerks.

Alan Branch: not a jerk; maybe a bust

we will know by the end of training camp this year about the "maybe" part of the latter

Plus didn't Urban mention that he was at the facility to sign his tender offer but couldn't get ahold of the front office b/c they were in all day meetings and he couldn't participate b/c he wasn't under officially under contract until he signed.

Be mad b/c he's been a bust so far and maybe you can be mad that he waited till the last minute to try and sign but he's in there doing what he's supposed to be doing.

This is lame. How does missing a workout make him a jerk? Has he done anything actually jerky like insult the team in the media or refuse to sign autographs for the fans?

...or like not celebrate the NFL Championship with your team-mates and fans so you could run out of the stadium and try and capture the spotlight and attention for yourself?

...I am just sayin'...can you deny the jerkiness of that moment?

Pretty sure that was Watson, but he did mention Branch was there too.

Levar Fisher was only a disappointment due to knee injuries; he was a decent player.

+1. That was much jerkier than anything Branch has ever done to my knowledge.

Leave Chuck Levy out of this!!! Even though he was a thug he was fun to watch at the U of A.
