Beaver
Maximum Effort
I wasn’t sure which album to pick because I like them all equally, so I am submitting their greatest hits. For some reason all my “music” friends give me crap for liking these guys and many have never heard of them.
They bring a unique blend of funk, hip-hop, jazz and rock, sounding like no one I had ever heard before back in ’96, when I bought “Irresistible Bliss” after hearing Super Bon Bon on the radio.(Damn what a run on). Lead singer Mike Doughty delivers a type of beat/free-form poetry and their standing bass dominates any Britney Spears/rap music at the stop light.
Unfortunately, they split up in 2000 after just 3 albums. If you have never heard of these guys, I highly recommend them.
There are 20 tracks on the album, I'll give some sample links of my favorite songs.
Super Bon Bon
Soundtrack to Mary
