RealGm wiretap reports that the teams are discussing Aldridge, Bayless, and Lafrentz for amare. Lafrentz, obviously, is just there for his big expiring contract. Bayless and Aldridge would both be awesome, IMO. Phoenix has to take this deal if the rumor is true. I would hate the organization if they turned that one down.

CBS Sports said:
The Portland Trail Blazers have made a strong play for Amare Stoudemire, discussing a package that includes LaMarcus Aldridge, Jerryd Bayless, and Raef LeFrentz's $12.7 million expiring contract, a person with direct knowledge of the talks told CBSSports.com Tuesday. The Blazers have four extra second-round picks in the next two drafts to offer, plus the rights to British big man Joel Freeland, taken by Portland with the 30th pick in the 2006 draft.
Freeland has reportedly been included in the talks.

Sounds too good to be true, which means it probably isn't. If it is, I'm all over it.

Its easily the best deal we've heard reported so far (i.e. not just made up by one of us hoping and dreaming). The Detroit deal isn't bad since Sheeds perimeter game would fit with Shaq and Stuckeys a nice young player, but I think this one is better. It gives you a PF who's a good shooter and a PG of the future. I'd hope the Suns could get a 2010 1st rounder in return but I doubt it considering how good Portlands front office usually is.

This is probably not a bad deal, but I don't know how much it would help this year. It would give us some players to build around though, plus save Sarver tons of cash.

But why is the 6'11'' Aldridge averaging only 6.8 rebounds in 37 minutes per game? Looking at his game log, he seems even more inconsistent than Amare in that department.

Aldridge isnt your typical INSIDE man, he is a Rasheed Wallace type... mid range, post and roams around the elbows... he isnt a banger...

Defense wise he is versatile... not great but reliable enough... he doesnt grab as much boards.. but he boxes out...

Correct me if I'm wrong : for any 6-11 man, it is very hard to be a worse rebounder than Aldridge.

Well it satisfies the money part, the future PF part, and SarvKerr get a UA player

Gambo said the Portland stuff was non existant...

Think im gonna become a sports writer. All these secret rumors are so easy to fabricate because no fact checking is required.

SarvKerr must demand that Ike be included to prove that he isn't just a stupid Wildcat.

Bayless is not a PG, nor ever will be. He has been playing well recently though. And I doubt Portland goes for this with how well they are playing. Does Amare really make them that much better of a team?

I doubt Portland does that deal. They would be giving up their young stud PF in hopes that Amare doesnt ruin their chemistry and resigns in 2010.

I think they would rather trade for someone like Caron Butler over Amare.

That trade doesnt work... but this one does. I am an Amare Supporter, but I would do this in a second.

Our team....
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/featur...~22~22~21~21~21~21~21~21~21~21&te=&cash=21:22

Sergio Rodriguez (we get our drafted PG back, maybe he is of the future)
Jerryd Bayless (u of a phx potential)
Jason Richardson
LaMarcus Aldridge
Shaq

Frye- good PF off bench-U of A phx guy
Batum (young guy that hopefully develops)
Pryzbilla- Good C off bench
Goran Dragic- gets minutes to see if he is decent

Koponen could develop and a first from them....

Meanwhile they have

Steve Nash
Brandon Roy
Travis Outlaw
Amare Stoudemire
Greg Oden

Blake(PG)
Barbosa(PG/SG)
Fernandez(SG/SF)
Amundson(PF/C)
Lopez

Why we do this trade. Cap space, build team for future with young players, hopefully one or two pan out.

Why they do this trade. Brandon Roy, Greg Oden get perfect complements to their game in Amare and Nash. Barbosa off the bench gives them another explosive scorer. Cap space to build around Roy and Oden in 2010 or resign Amare. Championship caliber team for years to come.

I should be GM portland would accept this in a second and it would make our team better in long run.

Maybe we should just swap our Jersey for Portland's while we are at it :)
