:notworthy:

I hope I don't get into trouble for this:

You would think the Cards Organization would encourage the writers they have intheir back pocket to write more of these pieces.

Awesome story on Grantland yesterday about what Robert Mays calls our "best player on defense."

It's disappointing that it takes a national writer to walk in and write a feature like this on a guy who's been here for six years. Good work by you, Darren Urban and Kent Somers.

Problem with 3-4 DE's is it is tough to know if they are doing their job cause the stats don't always show the effectiveness of play.

Campbell has all the talent, and ability in the world, it would be nice to see some of that result in some stats, to bring attention to him.

Thanks for posting.

For a 34 DE his sack numbers seem pretty decent to me.

I really think he would have better sack totals as a DE in a 4-3, but he is not part of the problem with this team.

Also, if we ever get a legit edge rusher, it will prevent teams from pinching down on him is rush situations.

Yes, but the point is he is better than his decent sack totals.

He is not putting the numbers that Robert Quinn in St. Louis is putting up, and thus won't get said attention.

The two numbers on paper won't tell the story behind it, kinda like your post count......oh, yeah, I went there.

I don't speak Jersey, although I was once threatened by someone who claimed to hate Jersey for sounding like I was from Jersey.

I was hoping it was talking about how he has been kicking ass this year but seems its mostly about previous years. Big CC fan, hoping to see a huge game from him Sunday. He needs to break out.

Great find, thanks for posting.

I think a major point of the article is that CC may be having a kick ass season so far but because of the "dirty" work he does the stats won't necessarily show it.

I know BA gave him high praise for his play in the game against the Lions.

according to these forums he has disappeared.... lol

Well he hasn't had the impact in the first 3 games like last year. IMO in 2012 he was beastly & as the story shows, anyone outside of AZ didn't know how dominating he was.

did you read the article? the majority of it was discussing his play the last two years. very little of it actually discussed this season where he's sadly been a non-factor for the majority of the time.

Honest question, do you focus on the Dline play when watching the game or record and watch the games again? I for one typically don't so if a player doesn't flash during the game I don't notice whether they are getting punked or doing a good job.

The article did go into all the roles and positions CC lines up and stated this will keep his stats down. Of course it also showed how CC made some great plays even while in those non stat producing roles.

I'll give you that I expected more than 1 sack from CC at this point but I didn't expect the run D to be this improved so maybe Bowles has them focused too much on run D.
