AZCB34 & Cardinals.Ken, please make sure to vote for Neil Peart..... Sorry about that... I must learn from The "Poll Master" himself....:raccoon: :raccoon:

I voted Peart, but I think Lars Ulrich (sp?) from Metallica deserves a slot in the poll.

I'm interested to see how best guitarist/vocalist/bassist will turn out.

Good poll :raccoon:

I overlooked a few, but actually didnt want to go completely over-board...

Among others (along with Lars) who deserved a slot would be..

Nick Mason (Pink Floyd)
Steve Gadd
Stephen Perkins (Porno for Pyros & Janes Addiction)
Mitch Mitchell (Jimi Hendrix & The Experience)
Nick Menza (Megadeth)

Grohl is a solid drummer, but it's difficult to narrow him down as just a drummer now since he's solid as a singer and on guitar...... He belongs in a category with the likes of Steve Winwood, Stevie Wonder, orPaul McCartney, just prodigies on any instrument.....

MIKE PORTNOY.

Go buy a Dream Theater album guys, this dude rules. If you're into instrumental prog rock check out Liquid Tension Experiment, it's Portnoy, Petrucci, and Rudess from Dream Theater with Tony Levin on bass. LTE has 2 albums out. If you want some moody and more esoteric progressive music, check out Transatlantic or OSI (office of strategic influence). Portnoy is fantastic on all of these. He takes jazz, progressive rock, and metal and fuses them into the most insane and original drumming and percussion I've ever heard. I've had the honor of seeing him perform live a number of times, and he even did a free drum clinic here in Tempe a few years ago. Insane stuff. Nice guy too.

From www.mikeportnoy.com .......

Mike's long list of Awards include 19 Modern Drummer Magazine Reader's Poll Awards including: Best Progressive Rock Drummer (9 years in a row!!), Best Clinician (twice), Best Educational Video/DVD for Liquid Drum Theater, and Best Recorded Performance of the Year (5 times) for Dream Theater's Awake, A Change of Seasons, Falling Into Infinity, Scenes From A Memory, and Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence.

The Vortex!
Every drummer listed is very talented. None no better then the other expect for the beholders taste.
I voted for Buddy Rich because he was an innovator, and a monster. The same goes for Gene Krupa. Louis Bellson was also an innovator, the first to use a doulbe kick. Without these drummers the list above would not look the same.
Everyone's taste differ, on this board, from Hanson to speed metal and everything in between. Sometimes exploring the roots of something can be a very enlightening experience.
The drummer currently plaaying for Prince, I don't know his name but I saw him last week is very tasty and a monster.
Terry Bozzio another monster.
Pat Torpey a local boy.
One of my all time favorite drummers is Jeff Pocaro, may he RIP, from TOTO.
Sometimes what isn't played is the tastiest.

Lombardo hands down- can play thrash with Slayer and jazz with the Fantomas. He's great.

I'm really surprised that no one has selected John Bonham in the poll.
