Over two players who might have combined for 10 minutes a game next year cracks me up.

Voskhul is our starting center now. That's why they resigned him.

Well, I figured that last paragraph is the reason why you're cracking up.

Voskuhl has shown more affinity to the game than Tsakilidis ever has. Everyone's pissed cause we gave up a big 290 pound 7 foot 2 inch stone wall, with limited scoring ability and questionably defensive proclivities.

One that we rarely used in the first place. I dont get it. Assuming we all know our 5 is one of the weakest positions in the league, and always has been, Im OK sending Voskuhl out there as our starter.

Why?

We were all leary about the 3-headed monster of the Jakes and Scotty. Why is it ok now that it's just Little Jake and Scott?? I don't get it.

I can picture perfectly how Tsakalidis would have dropped the pass that lead to Voshkul's gamewinning shot.

I don't think anybody is saying it is okay now. I think they are saying that the loss of Big Jake is very minimal. I think they are saying that the team is barely weaker than it was Sunday night before the trade.

The Suns believe Zarko Cabarkapa is going to play a key role on this team. Bo Outlaw and Jake Tsakalidis would have surrendered many of those minutes. They also believe Tom Gugliotta is ready to contribute (I'm much more skeptical here). He's going to get some of those minutes as well.

I do think Outlaw and Big Jake would have played more than 10 minutes per game, but I don't believe the team is a whole lot worse without them. If Brevin Knight can keep the offense going while Marbury rests in that will also help.

Keep in mind the little-known fact that Knight was about to be waived because he was the 3rd string point guard behind Jason Williams and Earl Watson. He actually asked the Grizzlies to include him in any trade for a center.

Yes, but that was basically because of Knight's recent injuries.
If he is healthy Knight is definitely a better PG than Earl Watson.

Then why would he be considered 3rd string if he was healthy? He appears to be healthy now, and was the 3rd stringer.

Chaplin, but he has an extended history of injury. He has only played one full season in his 7 years in the league and the other 6 years he averaged about 30 games a year. That's a terrible track record and doesn't bode well for the future if you ask me.

According to the grizzlies homepage he was.

And that is maybe because they used their first round pick this season on Troy Bell.

The grizzlies writer also wrote something along the lines that Big Jake might lead them to the playoffs
.

In my opinion it's not about Big Jake. Big Jake was a big Joke, but he was a cheap joke also. I don't know when his contract was up, cause following Lakavos Tsakalidis was never one of my main goals as a basketball fan, but I do know that because he was 7'2 290 we were gonna have to pay him much more than he was worth, and I'm not sure I would be too excited about that..

But I am dissappointed that we lost Bo. I know he was somewhat overpayed, I guess, but he adds a dimension to this team. Now, we don't really have a hustle guy. I'm not sure the Spurs had it last year, and or the Lakers the previous 3 years, or the Bulls before that, and so on.. so it's not necesary for championships, but it can't hurt. Defensively, I think Bo won a lot of games for us last year. He may not have been the only one hustling, but he lead by example in that department, and got other guys pumped up when they couldn't do it themselves.

Knight will only play about 8-10 minutes at best if he is ahead of Barbosa in the rotation.
Not very likely to suffer injuries when you can get enough rest.

And he is likely here for only one season at least at a salary close to what he is making right now.

Or Stephon Marbury who was seen diving for lose balls all season.

But Marbury and Marion are starters.

I think the only players on the Suns that might not qualify for the "hustle" type of player are Penny, Zarko and JJ.

Um, then why trade for him? His expiring contract would be just as attractive to the Grizz as to us, wouldn't it?

You would think so. There is very little about this trade that makes sense. My brain hurts from trying to figure it out.

No doubt, JJ. I am more and more getting ok with Jake being gone, but Bo--I mean, his intangibles were very important to the team.

I know they're professionals, but I'd really like to hear Penny's opinion on the trade, since he and Bo were such good friends.

Sheesh two months ago people were saying we should give Bo Outlaw to Utah for free.

If we could get rid of all of our salary albatrosses, I would be a happy man.

The role players for the Suns are going to be very interchangable. The key is developing and keeping the core talent which is Marbury, Marion, and Stoudemire.

I will certainly miss Bo Outlaw, but he is gone for business reasons. I don't mind business decisions as long as the team stays competitive, which it will. This is why I mean this is a very minor thing.

Big Jake may thrive in a different environment than the Suns, but I doubt it. Jake's potential is pretty limited....like playing at Greg Ostertag level would be a HUGE improvement...

Even on the off chance he does thrive in Memphis, we simply aren't running anything that fits his "skills".

I didn't.

Anyway, the Suns.com roster right now is missing a couple of the invitees to camp, but includes some others...

http://www.nba.com/suns/roster/

Ray Weathers and Nick Sheppard are on there, as is DerMarr Johnson, so it's being updated.

But William Pippen and Trevor Huffman are not--do you think we've cut them already?

Well there is no way William Pippen could make the roster over DerMarr Johnson.

And you know what I think of Trevor Huffman. Guess the Suns weren't really impressed either.

Ray Weaters is that small guy with headband that is dunking on a fastbreak in the vieo highlights of the interview with Penny.

When I first saw that video I actually thought it was Marbury.

That's right. I guess that makes more sense, since I was pretty certain Marbury hadn't joined the team yet last week.
