The Philadelphia 76ers are in talks with the Toronto Raptors about swapping point guard Allen Iverson for forward Vince Carter, WIP-Radio in Philadelphia reported this weekend.
The Raptors would gain toughness, while the 76ers would then use their first-round draft pick, No. 9 overall, to draft St. Joseph's guard Jameer Nelson to run their offense, the radio station reported.
New Philadelphia coach Jim O'Brien said last month that he didn't consider Nelson a top-10 pick, but that was a calculated red herring, WIP reported.
Iverson has signed a long-term extension with the 76ers, but he rankled team management when he clashed with interim coach Chris Ford and sat out the end of the season with injuries.
Carter, with the nickname "Air Canada," has drawn boos for not always playing hard and appearing to not play through injuries. However, he did play 73 games last season.
Iverson averaged 26.4 points per game last season. Carter scored 22.5 points per game, and Nelson, the NCAA player of the year, scored 19.4 points per game and led the Hawks to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.

Seems like Jameer is really shooting up the board. There is no doubt that he would be worth #7 if he really is the next Timmy Hardaway but is he really?
Wow this offseason could be wild. Shaq, Kobe, TMac, Iverson, Carter, Marion, Dirk, Francis all mentioned in trade rumors? Kenyon Martin leaving the Nets. Nash maybe leaving the Mavs...
