NEW YORK - Suns star Amaré Stoudemire rallied to a personal victory this week, passing Denver's Carmelo Anthony in fan voting to earn his first start in an NBA All-Star Game.
Stoudemire edged Anthony for the second forward spot alongside San Antonio's Tim Duncan and Houston's Yao Ming in the Western Conference frontcourt for the Feb. 15 game in Phoenix. The official announcement of the All-Star starters will be at 5 tonight on TNT's pregame show.

:p

Lets hope he gets traded somewhere in the West and dominates us starting Feb. 15. It's pretty obvious he and others have given up on Porter. Once he goes elsewhere, he will be back to being the Amare of old with improved passing while the Suns flounder in mediocrity for the next 5-6 years. Build around Shaq! Lets hope we can extend Nash another 4 or 5 years.

In all seriousness. Go Suns! F U Management!

Don't give up on Amare here in Phoenix Bayless. People forget he was First Team All NBA. It is really the current offense that is broken and needs to be traded, not him. Amare has sacrificed his game too much to run the Shaq featured offense. Porter needs to adjust that back to Amare.

I know. In the perfect world this would happen and I would get to watch my favorite player beast on my favorite team. It's just very frustrating watching EVERYONE on this team right now. I really do hope things get turned around.

You mean undeserved?

I can only hope this helps to get him traded. I'm tired of watching him slack on this lame duck team.

I'm with you...

By the way, what kind of starting All-star needs to campaign to get his status as a starter?
It is just lame....

So Porter's offense is responsible for Amare's poor rebounding? :p

I was hoping that Amare would miss the All-Star team. Being voted as a starter could give him validation that his current behavior, play style, and intensity is just fine.

Know your audience dude. No on here "forgets" that Amare is an offensive force. What we "remember" is how Amare told us he was going to be the best player ever in the NBA.

His defense sucks and hasn't improved (except in his mind)

His rebounding has gone from a concern to a WTF?????? The guy has NEVER lived up to his potential rebounding. 9 rebounds a game from him is unacceptable, He's got too much talent for that. Now he's pulling down 1 board and 4 board nights??? for FIFTEEN MILLION A YEAR????

He doesn't deserve to be on the All-Star team. He can thank China for getting him in.

It would certainly seem to up his trade value if the Suns go that direction. The Suns need to decide who is their dominant big man.... Shaq or Amare. IMO, it doesn't sit well with Amare playing second fiddle to Shaq. I believe this is how Amare views it.

As well as Shaq is playing right now I would prefer to keep Amare. He hasn't been the same this year because of Shaq and would improve if he was the main focus again. I would prefer to trade Shaq and Nash and build around STAT. I fear trading him would be a colossal mistake that we would only realise once we see him win a title with someone else.

Now it's Shaq's fault? That's funny.

Shaq is not responsible for Amare's lapses in rebounding. Let's not forget Amare is getting a bunch of minutes without Shaq on the floor.

Shaq is not responsible for Amare being #2 in TO on this team.

Shaq is not responsible for Amare's inability to play defense at times.

Sorry but Amare's play is all on Amare.

Amare should thank his lucky stars he is starting because I could completely understand the argument that he doesn't deserve to start.

Amare starting is a joke. It will further enhance his ego and make him all the more useless once the ASB is over. Have fun scoring 30 in the All-Star game because you want to look good and go back to being a lazy pile of cow dung for the Suns.

OK, as bad as Amare has been. How does Bruce Bowen get 3rd most votes for Western forwards?

Forwards: x-Tim Duncan, San Antonio, 2,578,168; x-Amare Stoudemire, Phoenix, 1,460,429; Bruce Bowen, San Antonio, 1,392,398; Ron Artest, Houston, 1,362,565; Carmelo Anthony, Denver, 1,337,519; Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas, 1,107,926; Pau Gasol, L.A. Lakers, 948,301; Shane Battier, Houston, 694,112; LaMarcus Aldridge, Portland, 497,550; Luis Scola, Houston, 405,851; Josh Howard, Dallas, 298,810.

I'm going to be interested to see if Nash makes it this year. Paul, Williams and Parker are all probably better at the PG spot right now, that doesn't leave much room for Nash.

Well, they pick them by general position and not specific position, so Nash is going to have to surpass shooting guards and point guards.

I just hope there's enough decency on this planet that he beats out tmac...

Stop bitching..

Amare deserves it for what he has done over the last 3 years or so. He had a poor month, he is in a funk, this team is NOT working at all. Everyone is underachieving except for Hill and Shaq.

Give me a break, our by far most valueable player is playing poorly over the last 10 games or so and I read about how he doesn't deserve this or should be traded blabla..

Trading Amare won't fix a thing it will make our situation only more miserable.

Yup, amare would fit better with a high post center or one with an outside game. Everyone else knows it outside phoenix, it was the most common criticism of the shaq trade, a bad degradation in offensive spacing. Amare also needs a good help defender at center to cover his back, that is not shaq. Dont get me wrong, I love shaqs new level of fitness, he just doesnt fit with the suns roster. Shaq needs a good defensive PF to complement him as well, but it makes no sense to build around a 36 year old center. Fans here blame amare for going Diaw in this offense. Amare is a proven go to scorer if he has the shooters to space the floor and a PG to get him the ball. He is also dynamite in transition. Many forget that amare is the proven quantity, not porter or porters offense. The suns have be using amare incorrectly since DA left. Amare needs to get in the game early to be effective, and he needs shooters, not guys who struggle from outside and cant keep a defense honest. The suns management better watch out, they could damage his trade value by not using him correctly, he is the most valuable player they have.
