Amare's defense is completely laughable. But it's not just him, there's no team defense. Amare does a decent job, but there's nobody with size behind him often.

Two big men need to be in the game at all times. But man, I'm a Thunder fan (cuzz I live in OKC) and was hoping my old suns could beat the Lakers.. but doesnt look like it. The Thunder are 10 times better at defense! The Suns inside are worse than Utah right now.

But man, is Amare bad or what? But as I said.. he's got nobody backin' him up.

Amare is out of position on every play. It doesn't matter whose behind you if you are out of position and breaking apart any type of defensive system.

He sucked and had tons of brain fart moments tonight, way too much even for Amare who has a low BBall IQ but there were times when he is the only tall person between Gasol/Odom or Gasol/Bynum and he looked flustered.
We all know the Lakers had better talent and bigger player but they have also come to play in this series.
There is very little the coaching staff can do if the Lakers continue to get to 120+/game. No offensive adjustment is going to make them go away

I'm now convinced Amare is dumb. He just is not getting it.

Honestly I had heard the criticism, because there are a lot of people on this board that just dont like Amare.

I dont really get into that stuff, I really just thought he was lazy not stupid, but tonight it was like an awakening. I quit slightly defending him internally and the light came on and I was like, wow, those guys were right, Amare isn't JUST lazy, he's freaking stupid!

I mean when Kobe is saying GO to Gasol so obviously that 20 million viewers and every idiot in the Staples center says, Cmon Gasol, GO! and Amare still doesn't pick up on it... wow, just wow.

Amare's general concentration is lacking a bit. On several occasion in both games, he has been too slow and undecisive after rotating out. And somehow the guy behind him couldn't do a better job of communication with him so that both often went to cover the same player leaving another one open under basket. Kobe found them each and every time. In one play, he was committing so much out on the 3pt line in anticipation of Gasol screen for Kobe that Gasol simply ran to baske for a dunk, a sin Amare hasn't committed for at least after the ASB. This should be addressed by the coaches and can be improved upon.

He's been out for 2 months. If that doesn't answer your question, nothing will.

That doesn't answer my question. He was very effective out there. So what are you saying, he's gassed? He can't play more than 18 minutes right now? He's like 22 freaking years old. I find that hard to believe. It's the Western Conference Finals. Time to leave it all out there, don't you think Chap?

When Amare just stands there, flat footed out there.. Doug Collins cracks me up cuzz you can tell he's basically saying - WTF? But after watching my Thunder play the Lakers, you gotta have good team defense to even "contain" their bigs. There's NOBODY BEHIND AMARE when he's out there so it's easy-pickin's right now. Amare is horrible on defense, but it's amplified because there's nobody behind him.

How many times did you see Nash somehow on Odom?? Good God man.

Robin needs to play 35+ minutes per game. I can't believe I just said that.

Go to an NBA game, sit in the lower bowl where you can really see the game and how hard they are working. You'll understand why, at 22 years old, you will run out of gas and hit the wall if you haven't played for 6 weeks.

Yes we need more Lopez, but I firmly beleive we're getting everything we can out of him right now. I'm hoping we get more from game 3, but you gotta be realistic. Even MJ couldn't just step back in after being out for weeks.

Absolutely he was gassed! How you could think otherwise is mind-boggling! It's not like he was averaging 40mpg BEFORE his injury!

Sheesh, its a stupid article. Especially where Howard is concerned. Where was this bozo when the Magic swept two teams and it wasn't like they didn't compete against the Celtics either. There is such a thing as a better opponent. The Celts and Lakers are just simply better than their opponents right now. You can analyze, dissect whichever way you want, those two teams are just playing at a higher level and this is still a team sport after all.
